Nope, thats all original made without custom-tools because they are all incompatible to the L4D-games (there are no open source codes to make tools or "real" modifications for them).
To me, this is on par with nearly all AAA games released today. The only big improvement which could be made would be some ambient occlusion on the ground texture (as shown in the mod 'City 17') to make it look less flat. Other than that, brilliant work, and without a doubt some of the best mapping I've seen on Source (Valve included).
