Blending elements of Archon "the light and the dark" and "Adept" in quake deathmatch.

Archon:

A being with access to unlimited power that eclipses all others - ruler of its own unique domain.

Aspect:

Chaos or Order. Perhaps there can be more than one?

Build up energy for attacks, shields, and magic power effects.
Unlock new magic and shapes as your power increases.
Control the elements, make them do your bidding.
Impart your unique energy upon the world.
Multiple levels of Archon power and forms.
Make temporary or permanent portals.
Can create items & energy points.
Summon creatures to aid you.
(Randomly) teleport things.
Imprison opponents.
Choose your form.

Energy points can: heal, rearm, & power up.

     

Archon achievement will be set by server cvar & map conditions.

Become the pen-ultimate form of Chaos or Order and master your domain.
Rule with an iron fist..."you - obey the fist!"

Got a few videos on the way from the last bot test. I might have to do a few "showcase" videos prior to the release. The bot tests are good, but they dont show of some of the cooler features.
And I finally got a bead on that bug that has been...well bugging me.

(At least none of the tests have crashed or had a server kludge so bad to be unplayable...)
Now its just a matter of building the release candidate.

[ And towards a future release, I've pinned down how the Archon power system will work, morph selection limits, some of the Archon spell effects, and some new morphs (like the shapeshifter if I can coax a model out of the editor!) ]

Ah, its been so long and no alpha release. Some of you must wonder what the heck has happened here...

To put it simply there is a major bug in the new alpha code that DELETES bots from the game! The entity reference pointer is still there but the bot is no longer functional on the current map.

I'm no closer to solving this one either. Its likely some alpha features will have to be restricted from bot usage, but I have no idea which ones. It could be in morphing, special morph abilities or attack effects. Though I do suspect the sphere of annihilation think code is getting called where it should not.

Work and a ton of other things have slammed me lately and left no spare time for this code. On top of all that my main systems power supply melted itself a week ago and I have to wait (longer due to the holidays) for parts.

This all leads up to the worst state for any project like this - a permanent stall. I'll get back to testing some day, but I can't be sure when. Ugh.
