Centralia Part 1 v1.2

Centralia is a first-person horror-puzzle game. Our focus is on the artistic side of the game so we have aimed to leave almost none of Valve’s original textures or models in our game. We'll also be adding lots of custom sounds. Some small changes will be made to the source code of the engine but this will remain largely unchanged owing to its complexity. Jim Fletcher is a curious, young, local journalist looking to make a name for himself by landing an exciting story on the ever-burning Centralia. He will travel from his town to Centralia, where a coal mine fire has been burning for half a century. The town has been abandoned for decades, leaving the eerie shell of a community behind. What will Jim uncover on his quest to make that all important good story? Developed by Andrew Furniss & Oliver Davies.

Hello there supporters.
We realise it's been a long time since any news or word has come from us and we would like to reassure you that we are still here. We have simply taken a bit of downtime since finishing at university but things are stirring and we have been thinking hard about the future of Centralia and where Jim's adventure will take him next.
We would also like to thank everyone for all their comments and feedback, positive and negative. We are aware of the bugs and issues that persist in Part 1. Any future work will be tested and fine tuned to a much better level as we will not have the strict and stressful university deadline looming over our heads.
So anyway, Centralia is most certainly still alive and we will keep you all posted on any future work and developments.
In the meantime, how about giving Centralia Part 1 a thumbs up Steam's new Greenlight scheme to help us out and get Centralia rolling into the future?
Thanks again guys,
Andy

Hey dude awesome mod ! :) Loved playing through it and I would highly rate the mod itself! :) Here's a video to me playing through the mod and giving my opinion of it :) Youtube.com :D
Thanks a lot man. Was good watching someone play it :)
Not going to be a **** here but did you model any of this after the real life place. As a person who can drive there within an hour and knows what it looks like it is safe to say that i have not seen a single factory like that in the area. The town itself is torched and left in a worse ruin than this factory complex and so is the surrounding area. The place itself is a Borough. Not trying to offend and I do understand that this is a mod but try to add more dead tree life. Destroyed road etc... Just Google the place and you can easily expand on to this. Again this wasn't bad but it just didn't have the feel that Centralia actually has.

We did do some research before creating the mod and the cracked roads and such were something we did observe. However, we had a fairly tight deadline to work on and we thought we'd try to keep it fairly simple atleast for our university project.
This is a good attempt but need more time, polish, and destination. I was easily able to find nodraw textures in the world and while some parts looked good some looked like they lacked attention. Still I enjoyed what was in there which means this can easily be the start of great mod.
Also please organize your release folder. There are lots of unnecessary things and you should decrease the size of your sound files. This mod can easily be delivered in 50-100 Mb download size.
Just played it.. I'm not saying this to bash or anything, but even though I wasn't expecting anything I feel a bit like I have lost my time playing this.
Graphics are ok, even though most models aren't that great and the level it itself really seems shapeless, but it's the actual design of the game that is really poor. It didn't seem to have any vision other than creating a slightly annoying scare train.
What were you trying to achieve? I mean you really mustn't think your players are very intelligent to make your character speak to himself that he should climb rocks in order go over a wall... and what's the purpose of the generator thing?
I think you should start asking yourselves questions while designing your games. Like what's the focus of the game, what do I want my player to think and feel and how do I achieve these things.
Centralia is more of an interactive story than a game. We weren't going for all-guns-blazing action. That was never the idea. The idea is that you help Jim on his journey to discover the secrets of Centralia.
Fair comments.
Being our first attempt at a mod, I think it was a good effort. Obviously there are things to work on though.
I enjoyed it. It was a bit short but the visuals were great. I even jumped a few times. Try to make it a bit darker. I would also like to see improvement on the voice acting. I could barely hear it. All and all, good job!
This seems quite sudden. Lovely though, hope it'll entertain my mind.
