Celeritas Eos is an open world dark fantasy horror survival role playing game set on a fictional world with a low fantasy setting. As Lucia, the player will journey to the land of Eridanus to fight at the heart of the world's problems but is this journey of her own free will or of a diabolical design?

With Equilibrium of the Night, players can expect an amazing role-playing experience which gives them complete freedom in what they do. The mod features an open ended non-linear design in terms of exploration and quest completion harkening back to classic RPG's such as Ultima, Baldur's Gate and the original Fallout games. Build a party of companions of your choosing, be a righteous knight, pillage towns and villages for gold or simply explore the world seeking treasure, how you play the mod is entirely up to you and nearly every quest has multiple solutions and outcomes.

"Remove your shackles, you pitiable formation of flesh and bone and pursue me to learn truth..."

After the release of two demos for Celeritas Eos, we have yet more good news to share...

The Beta:

After consideration, the team have decided to release a public beta of Celeritas Eos.

This public beta will contain the majority of the mod's content. The "Requiem" demo section will have implemented the feedback of players so expect more content and significant changes to that part of the mod. Here's what's to expect with the beta:

  • The "Requeim" demo but updated with player feedback.
  • The Content after the "Requeim" demo that's set on Eridanus.

In summary: You'll have access now to 80% of the world's content with most of the mod's quests finished. Exploration is seamless (as it should be as this is all one module). Feedback will be needed as it will change the final version of the mod. This beta will not contain the ending section of the mod however but expect 15-20 hours of gameplay (maybe more depending on your play-style). The alpha testers will also be delighted to hear that Act 2 will be completely different to what they once experienced a year ago so there's reason for everyone to play the beta.

Now I know what some of you might be thinking: "Why not just release the complete mod in sections?" and the answer is that more work is still needed and feedback is required to see what the majority want. For example, from feedback, we've had someone saying the mod's encounters were too challenging for them and others saying they enjoyed the encounters. User rebby-ra also set up a poll on racism in the mod because some didn't like it but the poll shows (currently) that the majority agree that it fits the narrative.

From this type of interaction and feedback from players, we can decide what the majority enjoy and want more of and develop the final product to implement more of what people desire.

From another stand-point, releasing the finished mod in sections like this also requires more work on variables and scripting to make sure choices carry over to each module and asides from the "Requiem demo" most of the world is connected in a way that makes sense to fit into one mod. I also want the mod to feel non-linear, not just in questing but in exploration too and having it as one complete mod will be better suited for that.

The North

Before we continue, I'd also like to remind people to try out the Requiem demo and leave their feedback for it. Without sounding rude, half of you did ask for it and some of you even doubted the mod's existence and now that we have something out, you have all suddenly gone so quiet. Guys, we need your feedback! When the final mod releases and we get complaints like, "there was not enough content of Lord Fire, you guys suck!" then you only have yourselves to blame for not telling us during this stage!

But seriously, over 300 people have downloaded the demo and only several people currently have given us feedback. Let's change that! If you've played the demo then head over to our feedback thread and tell us what you loved, hated etc. It will lead to a better final product.

When to expect to the beta? Later this year but I have no firm ETA on it yet.

On another important matter: Celeritas Eos will no longer be a four-module long series. It has taken us almost two years to finish Equilibrium of the Night and subsequent mods in the series would have to be bigger and better requiring far more time, work and dedication. I'm personally getting tired of modding and wouldn't see myself with the ability to dedicate a further several years to the completion of a series of epic open world mods. This isn't bad news however as this was never set in stone and this also allows for more solid endings for EoTN.

To end this report, I'd just like to thank you guys for remaining patient and I'll like to thank all of you who have provided feedback. Rest assured, the waiting will be paid off in the end.

I really don't want to be mean but i've to say this was really not ready to get released...
If you're serious about this i am under the impression that you have far too ambitious goals to begin with... Anyway i'll give it another shot later cause right now i don't have time but my first run gave me a feeling so strong i had to share this.

I honnestly can't believe this is something that's being worked on for 2 years.

Well anyway i'll give a more detailed feedback if usefull

That's because this has not been worked on for 2 years. What you are playing is a demonstration of the AI system and the procedural generation features.

If you read the description for the download, it states: "Shows off a number of major sidequests as well as our unique AI and procedural generation features!" and "This is a demo of a project under construction. Bugs may appear, and some content may be absent. We will update the demo as work progresses on the final project."

This demo is not a representation of what's currently in the mod but a taster of the area design and the AI system. It's a demo of Avue not "Equilibrium of the Night."

The demo was done within a few weeks and this (and the demo's delay) was due to ABJECT polishing up the procedural generation features.

Hope that explains what this demo was about and clears up any confusion. ABJECT himself states it's a demonstration of the system he's been working on in the demo's article above. In fact, the demo is best suited for messing around with the crime rate system to see how chaotic you can make the city.

So I hope this demo hasn't given you the wrong impression of the mod. I know that the demo feels like a very very early alpha. It's not a representation of the actual mod.

Honnestly i understand what you say and i had thought about this i wasn't expecting anything near perfect but well...

From what i saw i had the impression that there was not much to do and when i say not much i mean almost nothing. I wasn't expecting the main quest to really be present but that dialogue with the head of the vampire guild is a joke there are no line of dialogues just a big text.

Concerning the sidequests i only found two... Almost no interactable npc...

I understand you want to create an atmosphere where every npc seems real but the fact that they all have names isn't a good thing in my opinion cause you can't see who's important easyli and in the end it just feels like nobody is important...

I have been to ta tavern where you speak about a waitress employment, for one lucia says she has seen an announce outside which doesn't exist and even if you ask about the job he asks you to wait nothing happens and you can ask as much as you want...

Concerning the crime rate well i wouldn't judge the idea but as it is ine the demo there's already a lot of aggression at 10% so again it just feels like there's no meaning. What i mean is you don't even understand why there are aggression cause you can't help someone attacked or if you do they don't react anyway after that and when you're attacked there's no reason... No robbering nothing just an attack out of nowhere. Once it's okay but multiple times it becomes strange.

Finally i would conclude that from what content i saw and the bugs left in the demo... It might have been better not to release this. As i said before i didn't explore everything but this is what i thought after my first playthrough.

What i wanted to say about the conversation (if you can call it like that...) with the head of the vampire guild is that it just feels like it's been written quickly to show: "you see there's something else but you won't see it in the demo".

The same can be said for almost everything else i saw.

As it is there's isn't a single one conversation that feels realistic or just that doesn't feel like it has been written quickly for this demo.

There's something else i want to say, more as an advice tan as a reproach. That's not the first time i read you saying: "this version isn't what we work on it's not been worked on for 2 years...".

You already answered that to someone about the private beta/alpha. Alpha is probably more accurate. But well then we just want to say why don't you show us in a way or another what's your actual progress. What's the point of giving us a one year old build of the mod.

In the end it just gives the impression that you're covering something up.

Not to me it doesn't but then again, I am one of the alpha testers who gained "accidental" access to the alpha.

Well as the description says, it's a demonstration of a work in progress. The vampire leader does speak a lot but again, there weren't many conversations in this demo. If you look at our screens, you'll find that you'll come across conversations with plenty of choices and responses (here's an example: Media.moddb.com).

Now I wasn't going to say anything but since people have issues with this demo, I might as well announce this: we've actually got a second demo planned which show-cases actual quest content. Unlike with this demo, no content has been removed and what you experience will be in the actual final mod. To sum it up, the second demo features the prologue and first chapter so you'll experience the story too.

However, don't expect this demo instantly. We do need more people to play the current demo for feedback on the procedural generation features.

That's okay i can understand that and i want to say i'm not saying any of this to make you look bad or anything. For the screens yes i know i saw all there's to see but that's why i was surprised about this demo. Not a single one conversation which seemed complete even in thos sidequests...

Well i want to add that i know you're doing this on your freetime and i'm not doing any reproach you don't owe us anything but this demo made your mod more questionable to me that's why i wrote this.

But you're right, the content in the demo is specifically for it. ABJECT has explained he will update it as the weeks go with more content.

Perhaps I should let ABJECT expand more on this as it's his demo of the features and systems he had implemented into the mod.

I think you misunderstood what I said to that other person about the alpha and again, this is not a year old build of the mod but a demonstration of the procedural generation features.

If you want to see the conversations and scripting, open the mod up and look for yourself (at your own risk for spoilers!) and tell me that's not the work of 18 months (we haven't worked on the mod for two years). I think that'll put your fears to doubt.

Do you think I should release the more heavy-content demo then tomorrow?

In my opinion it really depends of what you have and want to show. We can understand that bugs are still present or that the content is not exactly the same as the complete mod but a demo as to be representative of the mod/game.

The problem with the avue demo is that we're just left in the city and there's only one real quest (that i've found anyway) and that's it. So i guess it's doesn't represent well what you want to do. Only you know the stage of advancement of your other demo but at this point i think people (me as well) are eager to see wha the mod really looks like.

So i'd say yes if you have something to release but not if it's almost unplayable obviously

I updated the demo file to include that tlk as soon as people mentioned it was missing. Unfortunately, modifying a download file on moddb means it has to be re-authorized again. The demo is still up, just hidden from public view until the website ok's it.

If you already downloaded the demo, the good news is that this particular tlk file can be found separately here Qnwn.net

I haven't been through this process in a long time so I can't be sure how long the file will take to be authorized. Hopefully before the night is over!
