Generals: British Forces adds Britain as a new faction to C&C Generals ZERO HOUR, we aim to make it blend seamlessly with the other factions, include a full campaign and add new skirmish maps.

The year is 2030, after a devastating economic crisis hit Britain, a new political party came into the limelight. It was called the British Socialist Party, and in their most trying times in living memory, the British public voted them into power in the elections of 2017. The BSP quickly set about restoring the UK's wealth and power by nationalising major businesses and issuing several defence contracts. After the conflicts in 2025 the GLA was all but destroyed, the USA became suspicious and hostile towards Britain due to it's Socialist policies. China continued to expand it's empire, and clashed with Britain over countries in Asia that were rich in natural resources. This lead to widespread and frequent battles between the UK and China, fighting to gain control of oil and ore deposits. The fire that rages between these two giants is fuelled by political tension, with the UK accusing China of being a mere front of Communism, whilst being operated by a capitalist government from behind the scenes. Tensions between the USA and the UK grew, and whilst the UK was not strong enough to take on the US directly, it did launch several covert operations against US assets, mostly for intelligence gathering purposes to aid the war on the Chinese. The campaign follows Britains attempts to regain wealth, power, and influence.

Generals: British Forces is not affiliated with Ministry of Defense or EA in any way.

First off the staff at Iron Sight Studios would like to wish you a very late Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, sorry for the delay, we've only just regained consciousness.

Secondly, as you may have noticed the ModDB profile for G:BF is looking a little bare these days. This is due to a couple of things. One of which is a hard drive crash caused us to lose alot of work, the second is because we also had a major reshuffle of the design document recently, with many new and changed units, generals powers, and a new storyline. However, it will be filling up with content with each news post, and there should already be some new stuff in the galleries by the time you read this.

Below is some information and renders of the new units.

New content:
The first of our new units is the M-270 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS), a rocket artillery unit on treads, it has a long range and fires a barrage of 12 rockets and then reloads. It's fairly slow, but it's armour can be upgraded, and it packs a deadly punch to structures and groups of armoured vehicles. It comes fairly late in the game, but can be used to launch a deadly final assault, or defend your base at range.

The second unit we're showcasing is the new and improved Cougar. It's a low level strike yet, armed with two parachute bombs, particularly effective in hit and run attacks on enemy armour, or quite capable of destroying buildings when used in groups. It's fast and agile, at the expense of less armour. However, it's engines can be upgraded, giving it more speed and reducing it's chances of being hit by enemy fire. Buildable at the airfield, a must have for clearing the way for your ground assault. (Brownie points to anyone who can tell us the name of the real life aircraft the Cougar is based on.)

Unit three is custom design of ours, it's a Generals power aircraft called the Trenchard (further Brownie points to anyone who knows what it's named after). The design is inspired partly by the Eurofighter, re-designed for the bomber role. Much like the Warthog, this jet bomber flies over a targeted area and bombards it using bomblet pods under the wings. With each generals point spent on this power, another Trenchard will join the attack, up to a maximum of three. It's a three star General's power, and is highly effective against infantry and all ground vehicles.

Other news:

  • We're currently working on an all new command bar for Britain, can't show any images yet, but it's going to look good.
  • A new G:BF website is also under construction, the old one was badly outdated and needed a makeover.
  • Also, expect a video of in game units next time!

Also be sure to take a look at www.ironsightstudios.com/forums and the G:BF forums at Ironsightstudios.com

That's all folks until next time,
Blackburn - Mod Leader

Good idea's joakim, but the goal keeper or 'Goalie' is the name for an upgrade for the helicopters in game. Archer sounds good, I may develop on that, any other suggestions can be made in the forums. Thanks for the feedback.

The models look great! But the Scarab should have another more english-military-sounding name, for example Goalkeeper, MAD (Mobile Air Defense), Archer or Skyranger.

Of corse not, SAGE engine 1.0 is a pensioner =) But CnC-3 DOES support
And in the next 2 months all the sense to make mods on retarted Generals engine will dissappear, and I hope the author realizes this too. Beyond the graphics the second good reason is that everybody will buy new TW and throw their G:ZH discs either to the wardrobe either into the trash can

I'm not blaming you for the cleaness of the chassis since, I have already seen the concept art you based it on. One question though; does Generals Zero Hour even support bump-mapping?

The "cleanness" of the model is dictated by the cleanness of the art, so no fault-finding to me.
So as I predicted, the count of purified model is 438 polies, and it's still not a limit, cuz I din't kill the invisible faces
The higher detaility of the model could be gained by texturing and bump-mapping

No, because I've seen good models with low poly counts before. But what I'm commenting here is not about the overall polygon count, but just the individual parts. With a chassis and turret as clean as that I would never expected a high overall polygon count in it in the first place.
