Command and Conquer 3: The Forgotten aims to bring back and tell the story of a fascinating faction. The Forgotten, featured in Tiberian Sun and Firestorm, are an ever-growing group of individuals afflicted with Tiberium-based illnesses. Detested, marginalized, and oppressed by the three superpowers, The Forgotten have begun to rally against GDI, Nod, and the Scrin. Since their story is not featured in C&C 3, the mod aims to tell it in a compelling fashion, through a deep singleplayer campaign, unique faction composition, and engaging gameplay. The Forgotten is also the only mod to feature high-definition Full Motion Videos, just like real C&C games, that advance the story.
C&C 3: The Forgotten has released eight new screenshots, one showing off a new unit--the Beastmaster/Tiberium Fiend squad--and the rest showing off two of our singleplayer missions. The mod is for C&C 3 and aims to add and tell the story of a fourth side, The Forgotten, a group of Tiberium-infected mutants.
One of the things we like the most about C&C 3: The Forgotten, one of our mod projects at C&C Labs, is that it tells a real story with real characters. We think the fans will be quite excited to fight some tremendous, against-all-odds battles in locales ranging from the Blue Zones of Europe to Tiberian Sun-esque environments of hellish Red Zones. Below, you can see seven screenshots from two of our missions, one from a European capital; the other from a crumbling area on the very outskirts of a Yellow Zone. The first mission was made by CaptNeo. Phe0n1x created the second.
Another neat thing we're showing off in this update is our new gameplay mechanic with Tiberium life forms. Often, we get asked if The Forgotten will be able to utilize them to their advantage; they will, but in a unique way. Since naturally not every Mutant has a rapport with Tiberium life, only specially trained individuals can command Tiberium life. Enter Beastmasters. Each is an older soldier who has spent years working with Tiberium Fiends--the Fiends will listen to no one else. Beastmasters will travel with their Fiends all over the battlefield, ordering the Fiends to strike the enemy with great power. But beware, if the Beastmaster of a Fiend sqaud is killed, the Fiends will no longer listen to anyone. That is quite a loss, because the power of Tiberium Fiends is very high, as you can see below.
Special thanks to stygs and chronosheep for their assistance with the Tiberium Fiend art. You can view our complete art gallery on our media page, and learn more about our units on the Units page.
Since 2002 we have explored, played and enjoyed mods of all shapes and sizes just like C&C 3: The Forgotten. We love games like C&C3: Tiberium Wars that have opened themselves up to modding. Because of communities like Workshop, Nexus, Curse, RTSL, GameBanana and Mod DB, more games support modding today than ever before.
Let's celebrate modding
As mods play a bigger role in the future of gaming, we believe it is important to recognize the effort the teams behind the work put in, giving us countless hours of enjoyment while asking nothing in return. We have the power to change our games and that needs to be celebrated to ensure it remains a big part of PC gaming's future.
It all started
In 2015, when the paid modding dispute left many gamers and modders worried about the direction the industry is headed. Things have since settled down, but we believe it is important to continue this small tradition to show we are not alone in our love for mods, and the open platforms that embrace them.
Mod Appreciation Week
Nothing is more motivating than knowing something you've built is being enjoyed by others. So this week if there is a mod you love on Mod DB (or anywhere else), make the effort to shout out to them, mention and link their mod in a tweet, blog, forum or facebook post with the hashtag #modlove2016 (or click the icons above for a pre-built post).
