2010 the was a great year for singleplayer mod releases, its difficult to list only five. To be nominated for an award in Best Singleplayer Mod projects need to have been updated significantly during 2010 and have a Singleplayer portion . Here are the Editors of ModDB's and our judges top selection of 2010.
Nehrim: At Fate's Edge
is a Total Conversion for the RPG The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It is a self-contained game that bases upon the Oblivion game engine, but has no relation to Oblivion's lore. It is a world in which neither Tamriel nor any other TES based name exists. The continent itself on which the game is situated is called Nehrim, it is completely independent from the base game.
Human Error
Step into the jack boots of Anders, and follow his story through a moral quagmire of thinly disguised genocide and raging psychotics. Vortigaunts, Alien Grunts and Controllers stand in your way from dashing the hopes of an entire civilisation, but worry not: you have at your disposal all the perks of the Combine empire.
C&C 3: The Forgotten
aims to bring back and tell the story of a fascinating faction. The Forgotten, featured in Tiberian Sun and Firestorm, are an ever-growing group of individuals afflicted with Tiberium-based illnesses. Detested, marginalized, and oppressed by the three superpowers, The Forgotten have begun to rally against GDI, Nod, and the Scrin.
Nightmare House 2
is a total conversion for Half-Life 2. You wake up inside an abandoned hospital with no understanding of how you came to be there, only a vague memory of the girl from Nightmare House haunts you. Soon it will be difficult to determine between a dream and reality. How long will it take you to realize that escape is not an option?
Fairy Tale
places a number of Civilizations in a fairy tale world; a world with evil sorcerors, mighty trolls, noble and manly knights, nimble woodelves and hot babes in distress. Original? Bah! This ain't original in any way. No-no. Instead Fairy Tale shamelessly makes use of all common and well-known fantasy and fairy tale clichés to create a pot of humour, excitement and of course pure good old Civilization nationbuilding.
Oooh, I hope Nightmare House 2 wins. :D

So, without criticising this time. Am I the only one shocked by the number of elements stolen from F.E.A.R.1?
Okay first of all: Fear is not going on in a haunted house/hospital Second Who says they got the idea of a ghost girl from fear? and third Fear dont got a epic boss battle.

Actually a quite a few scenes from FEAR 1 and FEAR Extraction Point is located in a hospital and about 90% of which is about a little/teenage zombie girl showing up (Just like in NH2), but still..

Wow - tough one. I love single player mods, and have tried all of these. I'll say Fairy Tale, because I'm a strategy junkie, but really I'd be happy with any one of the above.

meh, I woulds say Gratz to winner, but I dont know it (and to me doesnt look too good (because of my guidelines), so Im quite sad no HL2 mods made winner.
But, whatever the case. Grats to that dev team, blowing the others.

Nightmare House 2 was one of my all time favorite HL2 mods, but the level of effort and quality, not to mention the sheer amount of content created is only rivaled by The Nameless Mod in my opinion

Can't believe this crap took over NH2.
You know what irritates me to no end? When somebody bashes the quality of a work of art just cause the style isn't their cup of tea. I will be honest: I am not a fan of most of the winners this year. They just don't appeal to me. However, I aknowledge and respect that they are all of extraordinary quality and are worthy of their award, even if they aren't a mod I would enjoy playing. Nehrim is the FARTHEST THING from crap and to call it that just cause your favorite didn't win is incredibly disrespectful to those who invested YEARS of work in this extraordinary mod (a mod that almost everyone would agree trumped Oblivion, a professionally made game). If you would have liked another mod to win, thats fine, say that; but DON'T call the winner crap when its not.
