Call of Chernobyl is a free-play sandbox mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. : Call of Pripyat created by TeamEPIC. It features 32 explorable maps, reworked level design and level fixes, new original level, Trucks Cemetery, Full AI and A-Life overhaul, engine and script enhancements, Repeatable task system which bases itself on A-Life events, Customizable weather environments for every map as well as surges and psi-storms from AF3, Character creation which includes name, portrait and faction selection; Several optional modes such as Ironman mode, story mode and zombie survival mode, New achievements, rankings and reputation system, PDA leaderboard and enhanced PDA statistics, Companion system with keyboard issued commands, many optional side-features and community-made addons . Freeplay start: it will be possible to choose name and faction at game start, and start the game in different places.
This will give hours of gameplay, great work by all of you working on this.

So how is mod progressing are you nearly done?
Good. Project is more alive then ever. Many members took breaks at different times over the summer. We are back and refreshed to finish CoC. We are close to being finished for a first release but we have no release date.
Thank you for this, it's good to see attempts to try and go beyond rehashing the main stories over and go completely open ended on how to play. I'll probably go duty first then free stalker, monolith sounds like it might actually be harder to play than the other factions, with every other faction trying to kill you (but perhaps, easiest to get good gear)
Yeah, Monolith would be pretty hard to play because of hostility to every faction.
I might implement a few faction specific tasks but most tasks will not be locked out to other factions. Basically if you can talk to the task giver you will be able to do the task. The tasks give reputation points, if you do enough of them you can eventually be friendly (green) to that faction. Loner, for example, will have the greatest flexibility if you choose to start as one.
Making the tasks and dialog to allow the player to join a faction through an initiation would be time consuming and I'm the only member on the team currently who knows how to implement more advanced tasks.
We are offering the ability to choose faction, but I hope players will not be disappointed if we do not offer totally different experiences for each faction, at this time.
Some factions will have only small differences, for example, Mercenaries start the game with a bounty hunter task from Sidrovich.
I always wanted to be a dirty little merc. :D
Question: Will the dialongs with them be too "fanatic" or "religious"? I would be really great!
