Some complaints about graphics being poor. This screenshot is taken with max graphic settings after clicking atmosfear default console settings.
Notes:
I'm using DX9 (renderer r2.5)
Steep is parallax disabled
Depth of Field is disabled
object and texture detail are max
r__detail_radius is 147
r__detail_density is 0.4
r2_aa is off
Anti-aliasing is forced through GPU at 8x because X-Ray engine AA is old technology
Yeah trees look like crap. But they do in all three games, nothing is different in CoC.
I'm not getting sunshafts on DX11 (I do in vanilla), maybe I should "downgrade"?
That's the first I heard of that, I'll ask the testers if they noticed this. I play in DX9 enhanced personally because it's probably the most optimized renderer. It's why Clear Sky looks so good. When GSC added DX10 and DX11 they kind of rushed it. Some of the fixes for DX11 in Open X-Ray are because they forgot to check for DX11 flag since it's mostly just a copy paste of the DX10 renderer.
I get sunshafts on DX11 but they are very light and not very noticeable compared to the vanilla CoP or Clear Sky.
Sunshafts in DX11 doesn't work for me either, never has. Nvidia GTX680(MX). Not sure if dynamic lightning works either (can't quite remember), and also there is a steady fps-drop after playing for 10-15 minutes. In my experience, dx11 in CoP is crap. I've always used dx10 myself...
Sunshafts on D11 do not work for me either. I'm using Nvidia Geforce GTX 720
Sun Quality and Sun Shaft quality doesn't matter, it won't work.
I'd like to add that it DOES work in DX 10 however
Well DX9 Enhanced fixed the sunshafts, but broke my scope overlays. They're all distorted and offset downward so that half the image is off the screen. I've switched back and forth several times and this problem seems consistently tied to Render type.

Use DX10 then. It's like DX11, but fixes the sun shafts and keeps the scopes.
Because OWR3 has two sets of scope textures. They are included you must follow the directions for which renderer you use.
DX10 fixes the shafts and scopes, but I can't get wet surfaces to work. It seems I need to decide which I can live without. Thanks for the replies though, guys.
This is strange. I use DX10, and wet surfaces. It works fine. When rain falls, I can see raindrops falling down, and water running on the walls aswell on my hands/weaponry
Try to enable DX10.1 through console with r3_use_dx10_1, it was hidden by GSC so they can showcase DX11.
good
I run everything on maximum quality with DX11 and face no stutter or crashes. I use the Titan Z.
Your graphic card does not matter as much as your CPU does for STALKER. STALKER is CPU intensive because of Alife and many others things. Though a Titan surely helps
That's very true. Some mods like Shoker or Arsenal Overhaul tend to stutter a lot more than Misery and Call of Chernobyl on my PC. A huge difference between CPU and GPU is apparent in Stalker.
Is there a way to enable wet surfaces with DX9 enhanced? I'm getting real tired of DX10's lighting being stupid, I keep getting this issue where the ground and grass seem to darken/change color slightly when I get near them. I do love the dynamic wet surfaces though.
