Fantastic finally some females on Stalker was thinking if all stalkers were gay because of all the man around and no women. jk :p
Btw would love if some day there's was full support for female stakers in the mod, with voice acting just like the others and we could trade with them as well.
There aren't many women around in The Zone for the same reason there weren't many women around in Africa in Far Cry 2.
This makes as much sense as saying:
There are no jabba wackies around because Fred Flintstone had a bad hair day.
The real real why GCS didn't add females was because of time and money.
No cash to pay their crew to model, voice, animate, etc..
So they pinned a crap logic to the game and people are stupid enough to think females woould not go to the zone.
Seriously, with a mask, many females would not even be noticed. Plus I have met many females that had been in the army. One place I worked at, my boss(female army vet.) got mugged and beaat the crap out of the mugger lol XD

Yes, I think there are 2 main reasons why women would want to go to the Zone one both of you mentioned another is that there would be women who would want to make money from lonely men if you know what i mean;).( if you want examples look no further then wild west)
Yea no. Female stalkers makes as much sense as female soldiers. Few females might genuinely qualify in the army but they're the exceptions not the norm. I don't want 50/50 male-female stalkers. It breaks immersion. I'm okay with adding few female stalkers/bartenders and option to choose to play as male/female. I'm also fine with not adding them.

They generally wouldn't. It's a high risk job. Have you ever seen female oil worker? Female tower technician? Female miner? Not to mention many stalkers went to The Zone to escape from their crimes. How many females compared to males in real life that are criminals?

Their body build would be one noticeable difference. Narrower shoulder. Shorter height. Lower muscle density, which often results to thinner arm and legs.
I don't get it. Who are we catering to? Few females play pure FPS single player games (they either play multi or FPS that have some RPG elements), even fewer play Stalker games. Not every game has to have females, just like not every game has to have romance. There are other games that do that. People forget that they don't have to play/like every game. I don't play/like puzzle games but I don't demand them to be altered to more suit my taste. Shouldn't we focus on what females like? Even if we alter the game, if they don't like FPS, they won't play it.

Using the "high-risk job" argument is a dangerous path, I have, in fact, seen female miners/high steel construction workers/tower technicians/etc.
You might consider that women may go there to live "off the grid" like you see in the American and Canadian wilderness (like Alaska and the Yukon which can easily be as deadly as the Zone), you'd also, as mentioned in another comment, have prostitutes, then there would be the ones who are there because they followed their friend or significant other, and finally, who says women can't be scientists?
In short, their should be at least a few women around in any of the settlements for the same reasons that you would have women in a wild west/colonization or exploration setting.
The Zone is not specifically a war-zone, and the people in it are not exclusively soldiers, so there is no reason that women should not be present to some degree.
However, I do agree that the ratio shouldn't be 50:50 because of some of the reasons you mentioned.
