Looks very interesting.

Later on, you don't want, for example, Duty or Freedom to do it.

Thanks for the comment, as for now I am unsure how to proceed with the Duty and Freedom factions, personally I enjoy the HD models pack of the outfits. I wanted to focus more on the neglected factions ie: the Military, Clear Sky and my next Redux the Mercenaries.

Possible to get models as detailed as Ninja Nub's? The models just seem less detailed then his (Could just be me).

Awesome! Those old player models (especially the military ones) are so dated, like picisarkany I also hope to see more factions getting an overhaul.

Very nice. Quick question, is this compatible with Smurfs Dynamic Hud and the HD models addons?

It should be, its only texture files and models and yes as I use HD model pack too and no issues.

Looks good, somehow not as detailed as the HD Models Pack, but more immersive and cohesive with the Stalker lore and the old models.
So, are you planning to redo all the factions? Would be much appreciated.

Thank you for the feedback, Yeah I wish I can perfect my skills at modelling and I would redo all of the characters and factions in STALKER. Yeah the military is a tricky one, there are spec ops models and soldiers with all different outfits etc which is why I was trying to justify using three separate model packs and figures I could obtain through browsing endless boards and scavenging through mods and packs.

Personally, No. Not until I can either obtain models or make them to the point of which I would deem them top quality and fit in with the faction enough to replace them, as of now it will be only factions which no one seems to bother with ie: Clear sky, Mercs and Military...maybe bandits.

"Not until I can either obtain models or make them to the point of which I would deem them top quality and fit in with the faction enough"
That's exactly why I like your addons so much and I would love to see more from you! :)
I personally like your taste very much, it fits the atmosphere. The HD Models Pack is great, but some models just don't feel like Stalker and are a little bit too realistic.
Looking forward to your merc pack :3

Appreciate the kind words, weird thing is it's just a personal hobby of mine I've been doing for awhile and only decided to go public with these when the models and factions felt better to be part of. Honestly it all depends on the artists and designers, some are really good and others are unique in their ways.

Another reason for doing this too, the models I didn't mix and match have been stuck collecting dust on forgotten sites, boards or unused in models or mods and this provided an opportunity to bring them alive and help the authors out a little. Mercs are a pain, they don't really have a theme, as technically loners and mercs are pretty much the same thing, lone or teams of armed paramilitaries looking for a score in the zone. I want to make them stand out but as you mentioned 'STALKER FEEL' so right now its research and STALKER Story time to figure out where to go from here. I'm testing a beta version for now and see how they fit with the faction.

Yeah, I know what you mean, but there's a big difference between Loners and Mercs.
Loners are random guys with their own agendas that are only working together, because most of them wouldn't survive alone. They aren't exactly a real faction, they are just getting by. Some of them pursue money and power, but most of them are more of the Stalker movie kind of guy - people who look for a place where they fit, many have been forced to the zone. Therefore, they're not that well equipped when they come to the zone. They mostly organize their equipment and loadout to be most useful in dealing with all of the zone's dangers. Basically they're like bandits with less gopnik style I'd say. They are not a unity, unlike most other 'real' factions.
Mercs on the other hand are professional, paid paramilitaries, they come to the zone well equipped and only to earn money by executing orders they've been given.
Their equipment is more combat-oriented, or at least you should encounter far more mercs with battle armor than mercs with scientific environmental armor.

Of course, that's just my opinion.
But I'd love to see some details on those models that tell me that this merc is a professional and differentiates himself from Loners in that regard. A Loner is more likely to have some cosmetic items on his outfit, like patches or something like that.
I don't think a merc commander would like to see that on someone of his unit, but that's open to interpretation I guess.

T H A N K Y O U for this. The biggest issue with the Military was how dated and rough their models looked compared to every other faction. They were by far the worst faction in terms of graphical fidelity.

If this was done for other factions, I would have argued that some of their models should have stayed, and new ones merely added. But in the Military's case, the character models definitely needed complete replacement.

Thank you for the feedback, Yeah I agree with that statement, some of the factions should keep models etc. But then me being perfectionist noticed how the new ones are details and anatomically correct with the anatomy of the person which the stalker modellers didn't get right with the vanilla.

I mean, just look at those boots...
There was a mod for New Vegas that brought many items from Stalker into the world of Fallout, the first time I realized how oddly their bodies are proportioned.

Looks really nice, not really any FPS difference except when spawning in squads ofc. Thanks for the mod, do you have any plans to update Clear Sky Redux as-well? I know me and a couple of others were having the nebo_4 error.

Hey buddy and thanks for the comment, yeah I’m working on that right now. I have taken off the clear sky redux for the time being whilst I deal with the nebo_4.itx error. Here’s the confusing bit: so the model itself is a standard model and is the exact model that COC uses for nebo_b even the .itx is the same. The redux pack does not touch the itx’s as I didn’t want to modify the games scripts to allow for universal and 1.4/1.5 uses. On a clean install of 1.5r6 no crashes reported I even made every model the nebo_b and still nothing. My only conclusion so far is it maybe a mod or the 1.4 coding is different. If you can comment the mods you use I can maybe have a look and see if something on the scripts changes with them?

Reply Good karma+3 votes
DoctorX01
DoctorX01 - - 614 comments

I think I found the problem.

The nebo_b model was using stalker_nebo_2.ltx up until 1.5b r4, in 1.5b r6 it now uses stalker_nebo_4.ltx instead, which is a file that didn't exist in the CoC database before then.

I would just throw in a copy of stalker_nebo_3.ltx and call it stalker_nebo_4.ltx to make it compatible with 1.4.22 as well. That's what I did and it has been working fine for me.

Alright guys,

merc redux is on hold until I fix the clear sky issues and remake the entire faction again. DoctorX01 found the bugs and I have some models I would like to reorganise since some models didn’t fit (ie captain price from MW2) and I’m not happy with the new models layout over the vanilla, I would like to make sure heavy stalkers, have heavy armour, stalkers with gas masks have models replacing them with gas masks etc. And add a new soldier to the pack. Clear sky 1.2 will be out soon! With fixes and compatibility for both 1.5r6 and 1.4.22 COC.

Thank you again for your patience and support.

Dear Sir,

A regular Military stalker says: Thank you, truly. Since the appearance of the Zone itself the Military faction is underrated and generally negletcted. So it is twice as pleasant surprise to see your HD quality graphic models for it. You said, that it is only a cosmetic mod, but it is a beauty. The quality DOES matter, and very much so. So whaterve you decide to do for the Military is, and will be, much appreciated.

I hope to see more of your improvements for that particular faction. If it pleases you, of course.

Yours Faithfully
V.

Thank you! Erm as for now, even though there is huge material available to make or obtain models for loners, there are not so many to organise a complete pack which has a theme or fits them all together. Personally I’ve been using ninja nubs HD models pack for them. As it does a great job. I’ve been working on the neglected factions and groups in the series ie. military, clear sky and Mercs (at this momment in time an absolute headache haha)

Great job mate. This + your Clear Sky pack + Ninja Nubs make a fantastic combo. Can't wait for your mercs pack. As far as I can tell, Ninja Nubs pack already changes a few of the mercs in Dead City (trader, technician). Will your mercs pack overwrite his mercs?

Just a thought, but maybe you and Ninja Nubs should put together both your resources and make one giant complete pack.
