The BZ2 Unofficial Expansion Pack is a collection of many smaller works by the Battlezone Community. These include maps, recycler variants, skins, sounds, models, and more. By combining all of these into one package, not only is the end user's life made easier, but the modders feed off each other spiraling to larger and more grandiose additions. This pack will have numerous secondary releases to keep modding alive and fast paced. Already included are conversions of nearly all ZST maps from a previous version of Battlezone II and several brand new game modes. All members of the BZ2EP team respect the wishes and intellectual property of other modders, work included or not. All work is provided with consent and occasionally stringent requirements.

Pre-Release Public Beta v1.0

It is my pleasure to finally release a Public Beta version of the Unofficial Expansion Pack. I know many of you have been waiting patiently since it was first announced, and hopefully you'll find it all paid off!

You can download the installer from the following locations. Note that ONLY an installer is available at the moment, and it is NOT extractable with 7-zip in an "extract-over-root" format.
Run the installer as you would any other, read the license agreement and install.
(Note: The installer takes a few seconds to initialize properly and may appear to take a while before it begins, depending on your system specs).

{Note: Links may take a while to become active, use BZScrap for best results}

Please note that this is NOT the final version of this project, and is a pre-final release Public Beta. I will be releasing patches in the form of "Title Updates" over the course of this beta's life so the public can further test the changes we make and help to improve the final product. Please report any and all bugs you find no matter how small in this thread, so we can work to fix them. Included with this installer is a document of the major currently known bugs, which you can access by going into your newly created start menu shortcuts.

Local Mod Manager
Local Mod Manager is an application designed to allow users to easily install local-system mods. These may range from texture improvements for multiplayer to new HUD features. To browse and install the list of Local Mod's contained with this release, launch LMM from the finish page of the installer or double-click the 'Local Mod Manager' icon on your desktop. Local mods must be configured before you launch the game in order to take effect, and to not cause bad assets in MP.

Be sure to try out the ISDF/Scion teamcolors and new HUD layouts!

Documentation Included:

  • License Agreement
  • Release Notes
  • List of major currently known bugs
  • Layout chart for TJ's Audio NewKeys (LMM Mod)
  • Manual for Dogfight MP Mode
I want to thank all those who at some point have contributed to the creation of the UEP, this wouldn't have been possible without a dedicated community to feed from! I hope it was worth the wait.

Good news! For those of you who don't know yet, 1.3 Public Beta 6 has been released!

Unfortunately, this has had quite an impact on the development of the Expansion Pack. A full overhaul of all assets has begun, meaning that every single file must be looked at and assessed for compatibility with the new patch.

This also coincides with a generally busy time in the lives of all of the developers. All three of us (TheJamsh, Nielk1 and myself) are busy with studies for our various subjects, meaning we get less and less time to devote to the EP.

However, progress is still grinding forwards. Few new assets have been added, though NK1 has taken upon himself the mammoth task of the audit, and I am also sorting through assets when I can.

Rest assured, however, that the project will be completed.

At the point of release, it'll most likely be compatible with whatever the latest patch is. Its still under development and they're trying to stay on top of 'em. Though it doesn't have that real life gets in the way, then work.. etc... Not to mention half the people seem to be working on 50 other mods at the same time. XD

I have finished auditing phase 1 on about 118 BZNs, for those non modders those would be Map Files. They still need their TER sizes vs TRN indicated sizes checked to be sure they match.

I have begun to overhaul the core module now. This contains all the shell enhancements that better facilitate the usage of UEP modules.

He had a security scare. All members, please do not leave your computers unattended when under Remote Assistance if the Working Copy of the UEP is present.

Hey! There is a name I haven't seen for a while. We are still working on this. I started a bit of an audit on the maps to assure no asset conflicts would be waiting to bite us in the future.

We've lost our Lead Tester TwinShadow it seems. No, he isn't dead or anything, but he is trying to better some things in his life and has taken a possibly indefinite break from Battlezone.

We should all wish him the best of luck and thank him for his continued support with the SVN server and all his testing and contributions thus far.

Thank you TwinShadow! Good luck on your future endeavors.

Made a blog post regarding this. Its pretty long, so sit back and enjoy. I might be able to find a use for my profile and do something with it.
