The BZ2 Unofficial Expansion Pack is a collection of many smaller works by the Battlezone Community. These include maps, recycler variants, skins, sounds, models, and more. By combining all of these into one package, not only is the end user's life made easier, but the modders feed off each other spiraling to larger and more grandiose additions. This pack will have numerous secondary releases to keep modding alive and fast paced. Already included are conversions of nearly all ZST maps from a previous version of Battlezone II and several brand new game modes. All members of the BZ2EP team respect the wishes and intellectual property of other modders, work included or not. All work is provided with consent and occasionally stringent requirements.

Pre-Release Public Beta v1.0

It is my pleasure to finally release a Public Beta version of the Unofficial Expansion Pack. I know many of you have been waiting patiently since it was first announced, and hopefully you'll find it all paid off!

You can download the installer from the following locations. Note that ONLY an installer is available at the moment, and it is NOT extractable with 7-zip in an "extract-over-root" format.
Run the installer as you would any other, read the license agreement and install.
(Note: The installer takes a few seconds to initialize properly and may appear to take a while before it begins, depending on your system specs).

{Note: Links may take a while to become active, use BZScrap for best results}

Please note that this is NOT the final version of this project, and is a pre-final release Public Beta. I will be releasing patches in the form of "Title Updates" over the course of this beta's life so the public can further test the changes we make and help to improve the final product. Please report any and all bugs you find no matter how small in this thread, so we can work to fix them. Included with this installer is a document of the major currently known bugs, which you can access by going into your newly created start menu shortcuts.

Local Mod Manager
Local Mod Manager is an application designed to allow users to easily install local-system mods. These may range from texture improvements for multiplayer to new HUD features. To browse and install the list of Local Mod's contained with this release, launch LMM from the finish page of the installer or double-click the 'Local Mod Manager' icon on your desktop. Local mods must be configured before you launch the game in order to take effect, and to not cause bad assets in MP.

Be sure to try out the ISDF/Scion teamcolors and new HUD layouts!

Documentation Included:

  • License Agreement
  • Release Notes
  • List of major currently known bugs
  • Layout chart for TJ's Audio NewKeys (LMM Mod)
  • Manual for Dogfight MP Mode
I want to thank all those who at some point have contributed to the creation of the UEP, this wouldn't have been possible without a dedicated community to feed from! I hope it was worth the wait.

I like this classic,at least its being modded now :)

I think its playstyle could be adopted for an medieval mod, just think of being King, you go in your Castle instead of Combunker and control your Swordsmen,Bowmen,Knight Catapult via an magic orb there,if strategy becomes boring you can get out and fight personally everytime, how do you find this :? write plz. For background TA Kingdoms could serve an ideal setting for it as example.

That is an interesting idea. We never did think of a way to fit a medieval mod in, but the way you describe sounds very possible. A nice sorcerer's scurrying pool could allow control over vast armies.

The main issue is getting melee weapons of some kind. There are numerous attempts but no one yet has made a truly good looking and working melee weapon in BZ2.

you could make the weapons range 1 so you have to be close to hit someone

Fleshstorm 2 just came out today too, though it has no MODDB profile. Actually the installer was corrupted so we have to wait for a new upload likely late tonight for that.

Battlezone 2 mods are here AT LAST!

BZ was a terrific series of games. Anyone who has missed them should do their utmost to get a hold of these classics. A great game!

ZE, FS, and QF were all listed here for a bit, but never got much activity. I am hoping that by putting an extremely active mod here, one with future updates and news posts, we can get Battlezone 2 some new much needed public attention.

It is far from the game it used to be! With the newest patch 1.3pb5.1 modding is crazy. Take a look at the first "State of the Mod" news post: there are actual working AI planes, hovering scavengers, and even custom team colors that all clients can see when joining a server!

We all owe much gratitude to Nathan Mates and Ken Miller for sticking with us as long as they have to provide such great patches.
