What is DZS? (For you DayZ players)

Hello, I'm Craig *Shakes hand with reader*

This is Dynamic Zombie Sandbox, a one of a kind mission for ArmA 2 (OA,CO,A2,A2 Free, and Take on Helicopters). It started as an idea of a full map zombie survival mission, much like DayZ, but this came before DayZ. I wanted something that was different every time, that you could port to any map, and provided tons of fun. This is what I came up with.

DZS has 36 parameters that the host can choose. These allow you near endless customization of your zombie experience. You can play in the day, the night, the dusk,with fog, with rain, with clear skies, or make it a surprise. You can start with weapons, without weapons, with/without maps, with your friends, in the middle of nowhere. You can find weapons in buildings, in cars, and in ammo boxes. Loot can be plentiful, or extremely scarce. The mission can have hundreds of cars, or a scant few. Zombies can sense you from miles away or can be fairly stupid. The only limit is your server, and you don't even need a dedicated.

This is an example of a few of the options available, and many more are on the way. There is no question on whether this will be in ArmA 3, it will be added ASAP in the community alpha. I have big plans to add much more features to make the experience even better and more customizable.

Installation? Easy. 1.5mb file goes into the MPmissions folder, or just join a server online. The file will be Downloaded automatically.

Overview of 1.0

After quite a long time, I finally have 1.0 ready for release. This is the most complete, stable version of the mission that I have. It also most fulfills what I wanted to put into this mission back in Version .75. Many new features have been added and many, many fixes have been made. Also, I have already started work on 1.05.

Making the mission more stable was one of the largest goals of 1.0. It still won't last forever on dedi, but it will last longer. Further improvements are in my head and will be added in 1.05.

What's New?

  • Fixed lag issues from .95
  • Weapons in buildings, a little like DayZ
  • Local hosts couldn't use the logistic features
  • GPS would put markers on other players
  • Sidemissions never end
  • Weather can be completely random
  • Sidemission markers no longer give the exact location, if chosen

Notes:
1. A2 version hasn't changed much, but I did add make it so weapons would spawn in vehicles, and a few bugfixes. The CO version is the main one I work on, and A2 lacks a lot of the scripting features of OA and CO, which makes it much harder to port the latest version over to it.

2. If you spawn with a weapon but cannot shoot, just press F.

Tried it out, had some fun, got chased a few times, was not aware they could climb ladders :p
Liking it though, yet to play for a hour or more on a server, seems to be quiet when I'm on or people soon leave.
Personally prefer shamblers, is there an option for that or perhaps an option in future for the host?

Played some more, still can't get in Dayz (first time), don't think I'll even care any more. :D
Tried hosting the game myself and had some fun, laggy for others I guess, but had 20 zombies chasing us in a car to the airport.

Can't think of much that needs to be improved beyond what is probably being done already besides just a few things, I have no idea how Arma scripting is at all, so not sure if any of it is doable.
An option for shamblers (like above) in the host settings, or zombie speed if possible.
Option as to whether the zombies can climb ladders or not, also if possible.
I would also say reduction of zombie damage versus vehicles just a bit, could be a host option too.

Wondering if that bug with zombies walking through walls is at all fixable? Played another zombie mod for Arma2, AI would sometimes run through the walls there too, so its not isolated, but unfortunately does make closing doors a bit futile sometimes.

Do I load it up and merge it with Zargabad in the editor, and then finalize it? or how would I do it?

Sorry for asking a million questions, im not new to Arma, but I cant say I know loads about modding in this game!

It can be used on any map, CelsiuZ is correct. I currently host it on Zargabad. To change the map you just change the .chernarus to another name so Zargabad would be: Dynamic_Zombie_Sandbox.zargabad.pbo Some map names are different than their display names, so here is a list:

Hi craig I saw on the bis forums that somebody asked if u where gna add hunger and thirst etc to the next version? I think that is a great idea as it will add to the whole survival feeling. But besides that, great map and good job. will be testing ur new version

I love the Mod/Mission but I would LOVE if there were a SAVE OPTION, and that zombies don't run through the objects I put down.
