It's been a while since we last updated the mod with anything. Since the release of Blue Portals almost a year ago, we wanted to keep building on it. Adding new elements, ideas, and creativity. However, the life of Blue Portals wasn't going to be a long one because of many factors. Namely Portal 2.
After the release, we took feedback from the community and spent the next two months fixing the campaign's major problems. We shipped the major campaign update ahead of schedule and shipped Extended Play afterwards in March. Later in April, we shipped Conversion Cubed, a small one-map project testing out a new element. After that, Portal 2 took over our focuses, spawning Portal 2 projects such as A Little Higher and Alive & Kicking.
It's now been almost an entire year since we shipped the original Blue Portals, and over three years since the project actually started. From a simple trial-and-error map pack to a full mod, we just HAD to do something for the mod's anniversary. It's time to stop, think, and Refresh.

Blue Portals: Refresh is the official closure on the development of Blue Portals, and the conclusion to the campaign mode. "But what about UP?" you may be asking. Refresh is replacing UP, as UP had a lot of problems that couldn't be fixed and generally wasn't as pleasing as we had thought it was. Unlike other Blue Portals installments and content, more people from rHetorical (we're no longer the Blue Portals Development Crew) will also be working on the project, increasing the development cycle.
For November, we'll be actively updating this page with screenshots, music, samples, videos, and news posts. You know, like the good ol' days. Let's start... With these screenshots!
That's it for today! With any luck, we hope to get this addon shipped by the 30th. If not, at least before the new year.
Stay tuned!

This is a new optional map for Blue Portal-ers out there. It features the ability to "paint" cubes into different kinds to complete a chamber. Try it...
This is the official ModDB release of Blue Portals.
Uploaded because SOME PEOPLE WOULDN'T STOP POSTING THE SECRET DOWNLOAD URL. Plus I was planning on releasing today. The tracks have all been "smartified...

What made Portal great was while it was certainly challenging it was easy once you figured out what to do. The main problem with basically any Portal mod i've played is that you know what to do but no matter what you do you can't do it. Any Portal mod that requires crouch jumping, having two portals next to each other and forming a circle that makes you go higher is just frustrating to play in my honest opinion. Sadly this mod falls in the same category as Portal Prelude and Gamma Energy, really…

I only give it that few points because it's mainly about jumping!
You have to jump here an hour and there! You have to think for half a minute to get the solution but half an hour to xecute it, because its only about difficult jumping that has to do with a big load of luck! not more. Many ideas are awesome but that jumping sucks and ruins everything

Is there an editor that has all the BP stuff in it? Because I would like to make some BP custom maps.
Yes, it's called Source SDK.
Then why there is a separate download for a "Blue Portals SDK"?
Is this still alive?
Yes. Just put on hold at the moment.
I hate how everyone thinks of Portal 2 as some superior giant that makes modding for the original Portal worthless and obsolate. Sure, there have been engine advancements and new testing elements for mappers to use, but there are still several things in Portal that simply can't be made the same way in Portal 2. Rocket turrets and ball launches were some of my favorites and AFAIK their versions made by fans for Portal 2 are buggy or broken now. And extremely complex flinging in Portal 2 is almost impossible because movement while in the air has been limited. Not to mention that I liked the design of the original Portal better (with the exception of the underground chambers and some of the "destroyed" maps in Portal 2).
Anyway, I look forward to the new version of Blue Portals. The original was kind of short and buggy but it was still pretty fun.
hey reepblue :(
the extended play kinda crashes at the end of the last test
it happend when i got my new PC Also
Still looking forward to Refresh. I check back for it almost every day.
Blue Portals was the best mod I've tried so far. Nothing comes close in style, and I've never seen a new device in a portal mod other than in your extended play. Hope to be awed by more soon!
Thank you very much! Hopefully if Zilefile comes back, I'll post another article about stuff we've been doing.
it's 2 days that everytime i play Blue Portals i cant see through portals, i just see the contour particles and the wall instead of the portal, i tried changing some options(even tho i played it fine till 2 days ago with my usual options) but it didnt solve the problem, what can i do?
