Blue Planet: Age of Aquarius Linux/MacOS archive
Dec 29, 2012 Full Version 0 commentsBlue Planet is a fan-made FreeSpace story, set 18 years after the events of FreeSpace 2. Featuring epic missions, full voice acting, in-engine cutscenes...
Eighteen years have passed since FreeSpace 2 and the destruction of Capella, and the shattered colonies of man are finally ready to re-open the jump node to Earth. As the Alliance teeters on the verge of total social collapse, the Security Council deploys the elite 14th Battlegroup to re-establish contact with Earth, and young pilot Samuel Bei finds himself once more under his estranged father's command.
Age of Aquarius describes the journey of the 14th Battlegroup as its mission to the Blue Planet goes shockingly wrong. (StrategyInformer has very kindly provided a mirror for us.)
War in Heaven takes place eighteen months after the events of Blue Planet: Age of Aquarius and details the final stages of the civil war between Sol and the rest of her colonies: a war without good or evil, only shades of gray.
Built at the cutting edge of the FreeSpace Open engine, Blue Planet is a fan-made conclusion to the FreeSpace saga, a story of sacrifice, triumph, and destiny, and one of the most beloved FreeSpace mods of all time.

Hello there.
First, I have to apologize for not posting updates in a while. As you may have gathered, development has slowed down a bit, as people were forced to concentrate on Real Life instead of modding. Our Glorious Leader Darius has gotten a beautiful daughter, General Battuta decided to concentrate more on his academic and writing career, and I was caught up in RL issues as well.
But fear not, dear fans. We may be going slow, but we are going forward. We are officially able to report that most of R2 is done. While I can not give you a release date, even a tentative one, rest assured that you will get to see more of the story.
Now, there isn't really a lot of other things I can show you, but here are a few things you may be interested to see:
As the War moves into its final stages, the battles get bigger and bigger.
Aesaar's new Chimera model, a beautiful reimagining of the original one. In this case, flying around in an old Age of Aquarius mission
The SCP team continues to impress, adding new features to make the game even prettier.
Until the next time, this was The E. Hopefully I'll be able to post more news in the future, until then, have a nicely developing day.

Highest Rated (4 agree) 10/10
This mod is a drug, it sucks you in and does not let go. I wish more games like this were out, but that might push the limits of the phrase 'too much of a good thing'.

Ok I managed to get some links together. So it will be a little easier for people to find certain things NEEDED for Multiplayer Gameplay. So without futher adue,
Hard-light.net
Please read EVERYTHING if you are willing to play online game such a multiplayer package for this amazing mod. *Note this is a tad outdated but its the most recent one to date and it still works.
If you need the multiplayer package you can go here:
Hard-light.net
Also read everything if you want to play Blue Planet online without any problems.
Hope this helps for all those wanting to play Blue Planet. Oh and there IS capital ships battles. Its just hard to play it without anyone to play with :(. Perhaps this will get people into the game and we can get some good matches going.
Thanks for doing that. Don't forget to visit the IRC channel if you want to coordinate games with other people (#bp or #multi on irc.esper.net).
I think the next article we write should be focused on getting multiplayer up and running for people who are just getting into FreeSpace.
Ya, I hang around the chat once in awhile, but no one shows. Its hard to find people to play with :P. If only I could pop on one day and just find a bunch of possible games to join eh ;)
I just got done with Blue Planet: Age of Aquarius. I must say, I thought this was a totally new game rather then a mod. Great story line, even with its twists and turns. I just started Blue Planet 2: War in Heaven, and I loved the capital ship mission. Brings a whole new type of gameplay to Freespace 2. The only drawback thats stopping me from actually playing the second, is that there is no voice acting in the second part. With out voice the second part lacks.... feeling. I'm going to hold off until I see a voice pack release, because this mod is just too great to play without voice. Im looking forward for the next update. Keep it up guys, and you have fans awaiting updates ;). Hopefully the sound pack will at least be done before fall anyways :P.
Also, I read about a multiplayer package. Is it already in the current release or is it still to come?
The multiplayer package is released, go grab it on Hard Light Productions (there's a BP Multi forum somewhere).
The WiH voice acting package is a ways out, you may not want to wait for it.
Ill look for the package. Also one question, in this multiplayer package, are there mods where you can do cap ships battles like such in the single player version? If so Im so in. If not, Ill still give it a try that is if i can find it :P
great job on the mod mate, it's awesome and eygasmic
see ya around
Hey, how're you guys going with the voice over of the first part of War in Heaven? It'll be nice to have an update on that. (and one on the 2º too, of course)
It's going on. We're making some progress on both fronts, but it's way too soon to give any kind of realistic estimate on both.
However, one thing that will happen in the near future is a big update for the released War In Heaven, bringing new, optimized models (The ones we've been showing off in the images section), as well as some bugfixes for rare edge cases.
