Eighteen years have passed since FreeSpace 2 and the destruction of Capella, and the shattered colonies of man are finally ready to re-open the jump node to Earth. As the Alliance teeters on the verge of total social collapse, the Security Council deploys the elite 14th Battlegroup to re-establish contact with Earth, and young pilot Samuel Bei finds himself once more under his estranged father's command. Age of Aquarius describes the journey of the 14th Battlegroup as its mission to the Blue Planet goes shockingly wrong. War in Heaven takes place eighteen months after the events of Blue Planet: Age of Aquarius and details the final stages of the civil war between Sol and the rest of her colonies: a war without good or evil, only shades of gray. Built at the cutting edge of the FreeSpace Open engine, Blue Planet is a fan-made conclusion to the FreeSpace saga, a story of sacrifice, triumph, and destiny, and one of the most beloved FreeSpace mods of all time.

Description

Blue Planet is a fan-made FreeSpace story, set 18 years after the events of FreeSpace 2. Featuring epic missions, full voice acting, in-engine cutscenes, a custom AI, a new species, new warships and fighters, and thousands of words of new fiction, Blue Planet is one of the most acclaimed FreeSpace campaigns ever made. Age of Aquarius is the first chapter of the saga. A working copy of FreeSpace 2 and FreeSpace Open 3.6.12, including an Inferno build, are required. Installation instructions are below the cut.

A working copy of FreeSpace 2 is required. You can get one for $6, DRM-free, from GoodOldGames.com.

Installation instructions:

1. Download the installer, point it at your FreeSpace 2 install directory, and let it run

2. Select the blueplanet folder as a mod using the FreeSpace Open Launcher. You will need to use the FSOpen builds provided with the download, and the MediaVPs graphical upgrades. You can use the FreeSpace Open Installer to install FreeSpace Open and the MediaVPs. Select the 3_6_17_BP build using the Launcher's 'browse' button.

3. IMPORTANT: Complete the checklist on the installation page to ensure that your install is complete and error-free.

4. Once in-game, make sure you have selected Blue Planet: Age of Aquarius in the Campaign Room.

If you encounter any errors, please post a troubleshooting request on our forums immediately. Blue Planet has been tested exhaustively on multiple computer systems, so if you have an issue, we can probably fix it right away.

Two additional VP files enabling advanced graphical features are also available here. Place these in your /FreeSpace2/blueplanet directory.
