Blue Moon Rising Patch 2.1
Feb 10, 2009 Patch 5 commentsThis patch updates Blue Moon Rising to version 2.1
Blue Moon Rising is a co-operative multiplayer survival horror played in the first person.
Teams of four or five player-controlled troopers try to reclaim earth from the AI-controlled zombies that have taken over.
The game is set in the near future where mankind fights for survival against the zombie hordes that make up ninety-nine percent of the ‘population’ of the world. Humanity has been on the defensive for fifty years - the players join the struggle as the tide is turned against the living dead…
Features:
1) Thrilling and fast-paced gameplay requiring efficient teamplay
2) Multiple monster's variations
3) 6 new weapons
4) 5 new maps ( + one additional map showing an old school survival horror camera system)
5) BRAND NEW DISMEMBERMENT SYSTEM allowing you to dismember the monsters. You can blast of their heads, shoot off their arms or even legs and thus force them to crawl. Did I mentioned that the limbs will twitch on the ground?
6) Completely new game mechanics

It was quite a long time since the last release. This patch was meant to be released much earlier. Unfortunately we were really busy recently ( mainly due to studies, exams etc.) so we couldn't spent so much time improving the mod. However, here it is! It includes some completely new fixes & changes (sprinting), but also features that were almost done for the last version(hit effects, BMR-Stranded), but didn't manage to get in.
Starting with the wave editor, we fixed the bugs causing the game crashes. Now it's fully functionable. We also decide to increase the maximum amount of monsters to 96 (of course the number grows bigger automatically with every new player joining the team). The next thing we have fixed were the head shots issues ( head shots resulting in two head stumps etc.).
I decided that head shot wouldn't always kill a zombie. It was so eery to see them walking around without a huge part of their brains, that I just couldn't resist... Speaking about blood, we added a handful of screen effects appearing when the player takes damage. So there is the stun effect along with a hit-blur, the blood splats and 'spore effects' appearing when player is surrounded by a spore cloud.
Many players complained about the sprinting system in Blue Moon Rising. We decided to change it. Right now the auto-sprint mode can be turned on and off (default key - 'alt') and there is a new sprint key for instant sprint ( default key - 'shift'). We have also taken a closer look at our weaponry. They do more damage in this version and their reloading times are significantly shorter. What's more, we have finally fixed the bug resulting in a reset of the ammo amount, each time the weapon was switched.
As for the enemies, they got overhauled too. Especially, the 'bruiser' and the 'infested'. With patch 2.1 they're more balanced and they both received their own distinctive sounds. What's more the spore clouds produced by the infested cause constant damage to anyone who gets close enough to this enemy.
We spent some time on the game visuals as well. The most importanly we have improved the flashlight visuals and fixed the 'no light' bug. We know that Blue Moon Rising suffers from the little amount of maps. To compensate that I've created another map. It is a remake of 'BMRTrapped' which you may know from the alpha release.
Apart from all of that there were many minor changes and fixes in the gameplay such as the addition bindable text commands (like "I need ammo!", no voices for now - sorry!) to enhance the communication between the players. Generally the mod is quite easier. However don't expect it to be a piece of cake. I really hope you will like it and I'm waiting for your feedback!

Getting my ut2004 back from my dads house then installing it for this updated version of blue moon rising. Does this require the 3369 pathc and the ECE or just any version, anyway this looks great :D
Well, you'll need both ECE and the latest patch for it to work
Well overall I like this mod pretty much with my mate, the problem is its a bit glitchy. WHen zombies attack you melee you cant even push them back often, you are just blocked and cant do anything but try to go backwards which is hard as well. after you get hit by zombie you cant shoot instantly you have to wait too much time to be able to shoot again.. and the secondary fire of the weapons should be like aiming on the gun instead of nothing, when you click it somethign flashes on the left or right side of the screen, no idea what it is. This mod is great but you have to fix few things and add some new things like aiming. What about changing the recoil as well? so the weapon wouldnt jump as much and stuff... and I would recommend to make new weapons as well ;] and new animations of zombies + ragdoll would be good move, it would make them look more realistic.
Great mod again, just fix few things and it would be perfect!
BTW: The font in menu of the game is unreadable.
Could you make a motion blur option under visual in the menus? Motion blur in UT2004 on mac computers just makes the screen turn white and you cant see anything(Killing floor, Ballistic Weapons, and other mods have this problem fixed with a button as well).
OK, no problem.
Thanks :]
I feel this game should be in third person instead of first personally, mainly because of the weapons low quality compared to much of the other content. I could see a straight on over the head cam or a shoulder cam with a shaky screen for some reason XD. I really like how the zombies work and your gibbing systems. I'd like to see a wave counter and a timer so I can tell when to expect the next horde. Even objectives would be nice to keep the replayability up.
I also feel it should have more of a cinematic look. Like a slo mo or something in intense moments. An adrenaline. But really an objective like defend a warehouse and many runners and mutants charge it constantly for like 5 minutes would be a good challenge and have good replayability if you can change the difficulties well.
Anyways, keep it up, love to see more, gave me something to LAN up for a good while :D

I'll have a little bit more time so I'm going to work more on BMR. I can't say when new patch will came but it'll contain new maps :).
