Description:

This mod brings the Black Templars Fighting Company to DoW:Soulstorm game.
Black Templars are zealous space marines that prefer close combat over ranged warfare.
Templars are added as the separate game faction, so this mod does not change the original gameplay of Soulstorm.

Credits:

The mod based on models made by Melooo, and also reused his gameplay ideas about how to implement Black Templar's 'close to codex' style.
Also this mod utilize some other FOK/POK assets, like updated sound effects and FX-es. THANK YOU, FOK team, you are Best among DoW1 modders.

Hey I have been trying to run your mod along side the latest version of the Tyranid mod but there appears to be a strange ui issue where depending which mod is higher on the list, one faction won't be able to do certain things, for example: Black Templars not being able to reinforce or Tyranids not being able to use the hive mind menu. Would you know anything that would help me find out what exactly is causing the issue or how i would solve it?

I tried that, i assume i was supposed to rename the file "taskbar.lua" and replace the old one? It didn't seem to have an effect. One of the factions still have an issue depending where it is. It is possible i did something very wrong however...

Oh that is very cool, what its done is its moved/changed how i access the the hive fleet. After doing this i can both use the hive fleet and reinforce Black Templar units. Thanks a lot for this fix. May I make a tutorial on my combiner mod page (http://www.moddb.com/mods/combiner-mod) that uses the link to the file you gave me, so that others may enjoy the full potential of both Tyranids and Black Templars?

yes, but probably this will work only until next major release of BT or Tyranides mod(s)...

You better put this file into YOUR combiner mod (top priority) folder,..

Nice chapter addition.

::Note for balance::
In DoW, ranged attacking is superior in most situations because of targeting. You can reach your target with more guns than swords. A melee oriented faction will need some buff/tricks to compensate for this (dmg reduction, speed, etc). Example, Obliterators shoot for 250 dmg and will hit you many times before you reach them. Daemons/Tyranids get ranged dmg reduction and I think Black Templars need something to seriously face any faction.

Thanks for reply.
I dont want to sound rude, but BT faction have enough things to compensate "that". They have charge bonuses, in-melee bonuses, Righteous Zeal bonuses, and also global bonuses from Vows. As well as they have own Range units.
That was done years ago.

I've played them a lot vs Chaos Daemons and Tyranids and I don't think so. These 2 mods are often considered stronger but I can beat them easier in UltApo with human factions or in Purgation over Kaurava which also add BT.

Are the Black Templars originally in the UA mod or did you add them by modifying the Module File, it is possible you may be trying to play a race balanced for vanilla in a mod that is not balanced for vanilla.

You can consider whatever you want. Those both "Chaos Daemons" and "Tyranids" are custom mods and can be simply unbalanced/overpowered. After that, UltApo is unbalanced ridiculously. In terms of balance, it's just the apotheosis of negligence, apocalyptic indeed.

But if you would "play a lot" against the vanilla races, then your opinion would matter.

Man, I'm playing DOW since 2004 and making/balancing BTmod since 2009, of course, with help of lot of skilled/mature players and modding-collegues. Your "::Note for balance::" is not revelation of any kind.

My task is to make a fair game within the vanilla balance. I have no way to adjust the BT faction gameplay to all possible mods existing in the world. Sorry.

UA suffers from the same problem in terms of balance that no limit mod has (to a smaller degree): with no hard limits balance is hard to get. People tend to focuse on single units when talking about balance but good balance comes from balancing the race as whole like it happens with BT and other race mods as having a balanced fight between fire warriors+kroot against assault marines+space marines (not with the same amount of soldiers on each side) doesn't mean that Tau or SM are balanced.
There is no perfect balance though and only large amount of information (high numbers of matches) can be used in a relevant way. That is why testers are useful on the balance stage of a mod but are usually irrelevant for the rest of development.

- NO MORE PERSONAL TELEPORTERS for Terminators squad.

(Let's return to W40K fluff from relic's DoW non-backgound ideas)

jONES I thought terminator's had personal teleporters in fluff? In the HH books their teleporting all over the place...although it was always from orbit. Maybe thats what you mean?

Yes, that is not personal teleporters, but "deepstrike" teleportation by ship's huge teleportation device, navigating by special devices or by huge pre-calculations.

If not to mention very few rare arecheotec devices, in fluff, only Grey Knights utilizes real *personal* teleporters commonly.
