First off, allow us to apologize for our prolonged absence - we've had much to contend with and it's been a very exciting (and sometimes turbulent) year for us.

However, we are happy to announce the launch of a devblog for our new game, BEACON, a sci-fi action roguelike coming to PC. We know this might not be your cup of tea as it is very different from Black Snow, but give us a chance to impress you. And if it happens to be right down your alley, then by all means follow us along the development of the game and chime in to give your feedback as we create the product together!

Follow the development of the game alongside us here at our devblog. If you are curious about who "we" are, check out our website.

What I really like about this game is how it doesn't hold your hand. It actually has some legitimate challenge and forces you to think (which I like). Games are becoming a lot easier these days and this mod is a breath of fresh air! I also really love the art style. Cheers on you and your team for making such an incredible mod.

Nice game so far, I need to find the hammer though. Scaring my *** off, so it's like a prehistoric disease/gas like creature? I love the game by the way. I love your game posters, want to play a game of Space Marines 3? Great The Thing and Penumbra black plague style.

AWesome mod so far, reminds me of Penumbra.

Something is wrong with the performance though, you might've gone to heavy on the particles.

At the start, it's over, over 300FPS. Then, as soon s I end the lockdown, I get 77FPS, I imagined because of the snow. GPU Usage shows 50~ and CPU usage 40-45%.

However, this 77FPs feels more like 35FPS and has a strange form of stuttering I have not seen for years in Source.

Granted, it's starting to show it's age, and this is the 2007 Orange Box Engine, not the latest Source release, but damn.

It really hurts the incredible atmosphere.

So I've gotten to the area with the first monster, after I get the Keycard / Grappling hook, that lady who is being eaten in her bed...

The monster is pretty annoying, it's really dark, no source of light, no direction..

I love the The Thing / Penumbra vibe this game banks off though.

Black Snow NAILS atmosphere and makes you feel vulnerable and alone. As a part of a rescue team dispatched to a research complex in the middle of the tundra. You end up separated, chased and all but you remain. With dark hallways and the ominous presence of something unknown lurking in the shadows and no way to defend yourself, the true sense of making you feel afraid is done right. You must avoid a darkness out to kill you by using light, and solve many puzzles that will test your ability to think…

The mod started off well enough, you got tension and mystery. You had to explore well and it gave you a indication of what you can pick up. The annoyance starts with this arbitrary light switching that makes zero sense why it changes like that, and if your left in the dark you end up being chased around and stuck inside a room with that thing right outside, forcing you to reload without a chance. It moves really fast so you end up dying without a fighting chance as soon as you make a mistake. Then…
