First off, allow us to apologize for our prolonged absence - we've had much to contend with and it's been a very exciting (and sometimes turbulent) year for us.

However, we are happy to announce the launch of a devblog for our new game, BEACON, a sci-fi action roguelike coming to PC. We know this might not be your cup of tea as it is very different from Black Snow, but give us a chance to impress you. And if it happens to be right down your alley, then by all means follow us along the development of the game and chime in to give your feedback as we create the product together!

Follow the development of the game alongside us here at our devblog. If you are curious about who "we" are, check out our website.

For those of you with issues exiting the computer at the start, it seems that Steam cloud will overwrite the config file with ep2's, so make sure you press whichever jump key you set in ep2! Also delete the config.cfg file in Black Snow's cfg folder to force the game to auto-generate the cfg.

If all else fails, bring up console and type in "ent_fire itemcam_jack1_ui disable" (without quotes).

Sorry about the bugs guys, I'm working on a patch right now but I'm waiting to see if any other bugs will pop up so I can release a big fix for all that instead of several small releases.

I'm having this problem and for w/e reason, nothing fixes it. The console command doesn't work, whether I use the above one or +jump. I deleted the config file and let it regenerate. Took at look at it and it says:
bind "SPACE" "+jump"
Which is right, right..?

the console command above is incorrect, use this:
ent_fire itemcam_jack1_ui deactivate

this only works for the first computer though

Team, congratulations, it has been a while since a Half-life 2 Mod has been released (other than Black Mesa) which had some sort of quality and a hardworking team that likes what they do. Well done.

That was a great mod; definitely one of the best HL2-Ep2 mods I've played in years. The ending was pretty surprising though, but sort've makes sense. I can't get into the website, tried the word on the red laptop screen and the bloody note that re-appears as password D;

But that was pretty cool, got used to the mist after I founding out it's weakness.

Mod would be perfect with a Flashlight.

As it is, you can walk past areas you need to visit, several times, wandering around in the dark loses the scare factor after awhile and just becomes annoying.

Also, I don't know if it's a bug, but that monster never "Goes away", i.e, he stands right in the only doorway of a room I am in, meaning my only choice is to die by him, effectively making that playthrough dead and I have to reload from some earlier point.

I love Puzzle games, I played Penumbra, Amnesia, and several other such games...But this lacks direction. It has atmosphere, and mechanics down pretty good. Story is one of those vague, Stephen King like stories, which is fun.

But it lacks direction. You're thrust into this world, with no idea what to do or why you're doing anything, and as far as I can remember, the character, you, don't have Amnesia. Reading around you can find out details about what happened and why you are there, but by direction I mean objects.

For example, you need a bottle of pills. There is 20 bottles on the shelf. You can run by, pressing E constantly and not get anything. But the Bottle you need is there, though they all use the SAME pill bottle model. The one you need, does not stand out, it is not another color, it does not have a name, it does not glow...this is simply frustrating. I don't want my hand held, but objects that you can pick up should be more notcable.

If you read the textbook, the icon pops up over the items you need, I thought that was a compromise over how much hand holding can be done.

That part, but I am talking about the rest of the game.

Just the atmosphere can only go so far, before some rather poor game design choices come over.

I'd give it a 8.5/10 though in all honesty.

Duly noted! I'd love to have more polishing time for the mod but unfortunately I have a more pressing project. I assure you the next one will be better!

Oh I understand man.

It's one of the best mods in a long time, no doubt. Mxthe, creator of Underhell gave this mod a shoutout and told me to check it out, he knows quality stuff.

I really enjoy it, especially with my awesome 27'' monitor and surround sound, I turn my AC on and make myself near freezing(I like to set the mood), and the game really flies away with me, until I get stuck in an infinite loop.

I am following and will look forward to anything else you do.

Black Snow NAILS atmosphere and makes you feel vulnerable and alone. As a part of a rescue team dispatched to a research complex in the middle of the tundra. You end up separated, chased and all but you remain. With dark hallways and the ominous presence of something unknown lurking in the shadows and no way to defend yourself, the true sense of making you feel afraid is done right. You must avoid a darkness out to kill you by using light, and solve many puzzles that will test your ability to think…

The mod started off well enough, you got tension and mystery. You had to explore well and it gave you a indication of what you can pick up. The annoyance starts with this arbitrary light switching that makes zero sense why it changes like that, and if your left in the dark you end up being chased around and stuck inside a room with that thing right outside, forcing you to reload without a chance. It moves really fast so you end up dying without a fighting chance as soon as you make a mistake. Then…
