Run. Think. Shoot. Live. Source.
Black Mesa is the Half-Life 2 total conversion of the original Half-Life game. Utilizing the Source engine and its endless array of possibilities and powers, Black Mesa will throw you into the world that started the Half-Life continuum and introduced Gordon Freeman to the world as a gun-toting, bullet-dodging Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics.
Black Mesa was built and founded on the principle that Half-Life: Source did not do the original title enough credit, regardless of the true intentions laid out with the release of Half-Life: Source by Valve Software. Subsequently in November 2004, Black Mesa was founded and set out to reconstruct the original title, giving it the new environments, models, and abilities it deserved on the Source engine. This total conversion will not require Half-Life: Source installed on your system to play, only a legitimate and working version of Half-Life 2. At the present time, Valve Software is not associated or involved with the development of this project.
Here is a small list of planned features of Black Mesa:
This mod is not dead, we are still hard at work on it.

The wait was just long enough for all kinds of crazy bets to be made, but time to cash those in, because the Black Mesa Trailer is good to go and up for viewing! You can download the high resolution version straight off of Monkey-Junkie's website and or stream it right here on ModDB. We hope this gives you a small taste of what the game will be like, and we hope it was worth the extra wait!
We also forgot to include some great Power Up shots by Kim Dahlgren, so be sure and check those out on our media page! This officially concludes our media release, but not future updates! And as stated in the trailer, the days this mod stays in development are truly numbered. Hang tight, because at long last, it is coming.

I dont see any new media... but in the faqs on their new page, I read that the original soundtranks will also return in Black Mesa.
Awesome isn't it?
And is it me or is there new media ?
And i wonder, why my comment got down voted, since i noticed the same thing as you.
Probably because i'm Finnish..
Because you're Finnish? How does that work?
Btw, I got voted down for stating the obvious too... -_-
it's because people on the internet are assholes
The website is up with a nice new front page with the hottest FAQ in bold, big characters and they even embedded their Twitter feed right into it. Looks like signs of life to me ! Love the picture too.
I can't open Blackmesasource.com
hmm to much people want to open it:P
okey i'm in wow!!....;)
Don't count your chicks yet, ostrich sized eggs need time to fully develop the embryo inside.
Besides...no release date was announced...
Yup, something is going on, although I didn't spot any new media.
The change quite suprised me when I checked the site in the morning.
We'll see what happen. May the crowbar with us!
