Run. Think. Shoot. Live. Source.
Black Mesa is the Half-Life 2 total conversion of the original Half-Life game. Utilizing the Source engine and its endless array of possibilities and powers, Black Mesa will throw you into the world that started the Half-Life continuum and introduced Gordon Freeman to the world as a gun-toting, bullet-dodging Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics.
Black Mesa was built and founded on the principle that Half-Life: Source did not do the original title enough credit, regardless of the true intentions laid out with the release of Half-Life: Source by Valve Software. Subsequently in November 2004, Black Mesa was founded and set out to reconstruct the original title, giving it the new environments, models, and abilities it deserved on the Source engine. This total conversion will not require Half-Life: Source installed on your system to play, only a legitimate and working version of Half-Life 2. At the present time, Valve Software is not associated or involved with the development of this project.
Here is a small list of planned features of Black Mesa:
This mod is not dead, we are still hard at work on it.

Episode 4 is now up for download, however if you are downloading it from iTunes it will take 1-2 hours (from the post time) for it to update before you are able to download it on iTunes. Posting the episode 3 1/2 hours early but as always the earlier the better ;).

Bye.
Goodbye, Black Mesa.
What do you mean goodbye black mesa
I guess it's just these guys thinking BMS is dead...
Well maybe it is, it's been almost 10 months since they did a media update. :/
what the flip?
I posted about 3 years ago this game was never going to come out. I found this mod randomly again and it's a good feeling knowing you were right :D
Seriously though(just to clarify my previous comment), the amount of time we've spent developing Black Mesa is about average for a game of this size and quality.
Add that to the fact that we haven't died, and you'll see that a release is actually very likely.
As for how good you feel telling other people that we'll never release the game, well I suggest you take up a different hobby.
You're in for one hell of a surprise.
I don't intend to gripe much but can we get another official news update? Its been quite awhile (december obviously)
what surprise is this?
