Run. Think. Shoot. Live. Source.
Black Mesa is the Half-Life 2 total conversion of the original Half-Life game. Utilizing the Source engine and its endless array of possibilities and powers, Black Mesa will throw you into the world that started the Half-Life continuum and introduced Gordon Freeman to the world as a gun-toting, bullet-dodging Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics.
Black Mesa was built and founded on the principle that Half-Life: Source did not do the original title enough credit, regardless of the true intentions laid out with the release of Half-Life: Source by Valve Software. Subsequently in November 2004, Black Mesa was founded and set out to reconstruct the original title, giving it the new environments, models, and abilities it deserved on the Source engine. This total conversion will not require Half-Life: Source installed on your system to play, only a legitimate and working version of Half-Life 2. At the present time, Valve Software is not associated or involved with the development of this project.
Here is a small list of planned features of Black Mesa:
This mod is not dead, we are still hard at work on it.

The wait was just long enough for all kinds of crazy bets to be made, but time to cash those in, because the Black Mesa Trailer is good to go and up for viewing! You can download the high resolution version straight off of Monkey-Junkie's website and or stream it right here on ModDB. We hope this gives you a small taste of what the game will be like, and we hope it was worth the extra wait!
We also forgot to include some great Power Up shots by Kim Dahlgren, so be sure and check those out on our media page! This officially concludes our media release, but not future updates! And as stated in the trailer, the days this mod stays in development are truly numbered. Hang tight, because at long last, it is coming.

I hope they actually give us a date (like, 10 days in advance perhaps) rather than simply saying "surprise, we're done!" so we have time to get really excited about the release of the mod. Although I'd be okay with the "surprise, we're done" if it was on the Half Life anniversary or Christmas, since we're kinda expecting/hoping for that.
I hope they release some awesome pictures of xen soon.
You know what ? Thinking about it, I have a love-hate relationship with Xen. It's really intense. Not to mention the fact it was quite obscured in Half-Life 2.
Let's hope those buttholes are worth it...
they are not releasing any pictures of xen. They want to surprise you with xen when the mod is released. This has been said over a million times...
I began to wonder, how the BM Tm will celebrate the anniversary of Half-Life 1's release. (November 19th)
Actually they dit it last year for the tenth anniversary. It was important to me, because Half-Life introduced me to the world of software development.
I've a question about the sky in Black Mesa, will it move or stand still? Guess the letter is the case, but anyway this is not an unimportant thing in the game in my opinion
The clock is ticking, only 2 months until the guaranteed release date!!!
Yup, and did you see the all new video about the mortar testing?
(Note: The sounds are f*cking cool)
