Welcome back Mr. Freeman, Black mesa is now available on Early Access, Black Mesa is what we had all hoped half life source would have been, a total re invisoning of the Classic brought up to date with higher definition models, textures and more.

Crowbar collective state. “Making a game with the scope and scale of Black Mesa is a massive undertaking. Back in 2012 we made the decision to release what we had completed up to that point, and were blown away by the community’s response, feedback, and improvements to our work. We want to keep that relationship alive and well by using Early Access as a tool for allowing our community to participate in the final phase of Black Mesa’s development.

In addition, our ambitions go beyond the original Xen chapters found in Half-Life. We have a standard of quality that we have to achieve. Early Access allows us to commit resources to bring you the remaining chapters with the quality that you expect.”

"We currently have the first ~85% of our single player campaign completed. For the last 15% we want to not only recreate it, but improve upon it to make it an enjoyable and memorable experience. We feel it will take us considerable time to get the last 15% up to our standards, and putting a time estimate on it would be a total guess.”

This EA release sees you playing over 10 hours of single player campaign. Multiplayer deathmatch and team deathmatch with 6 completely re-imagined Half-Life 1 maps on the Source Engine.

So many ignorant people....

You do realize, that retail BM is not considered a MOD anymore, knowing they are transitioning it into an actual GAME?

a GAME, that receives regular UPDATES?

I can easily understand why the Xen chapter won't be in the mod version, knowing how producing and developing with hl2 mods works today, I've seen games gaining MUCH more stability thanks to the Greenlight platform because of the extra 'goodies' developers can obtain through this process.

It's so easy to understand... But people have become so greedy and ignorant these days.... <.<

I'm a little disgruntled that the final build rings up 20 bucks but considering all the original modeling and scripting and voice recording implemented, one can conclude the devs deserve some compensation.

Game of the year in my opinion.

They deserve more than $20 they deserve at least $60 or $40. And it's not really what you should say final.

Well, think about it for a second. Think of all the mods that were released that were built from the ground up and got no pay for. Black Mesa had a lot of promised release dates they never fulfilled, Talk about broken promises. Becoming paid all of a sudden (in the eyes of the user who doesn't read the forums) is very interesting. They need to modify the engine anyway to make Xen possible, so it makes sense to cost money now. I never really cared for Early Access ****, I wont be buying Black Mesa until it REALLY wows me.

Well that is true. They did broke a lot of release promises and it's still is buggy but it's an early release but as you said, you never really care and you're also right about it becoming paid all of the sudden. I just got excited and bought the game. The only difference is, there's multiplayer, a lot of different things in the game. But now I've realized, nothing really much changed well basically.

I love all the butthurt comments from people complaining about the free version not getting Xen, like they're asking for some ridiculous price like a AAA release.

It's probably the same ignorant people who lashed out about the development taking so long. Well, now they've released it, it's proven very VERY enjoyable, and they can make a profit by charging for it. Who knows, a well funded Crowbar Collective might be encouraged to go on and make the next GAME OF THE YEAR 20XX or whenever. They obviously know how to make a decent game unlike the EAs and Activisions of today. Hell, they even dropped the price while it's not finished. Might as well grab it now.

Otherwise, shut up, grow up and realise that nothing worth having comes free you tight fisted arseholes.

So you basically say that its okay to pay for a partially finished product. I won't call it an demo because it has a lot more things into it (half of the game is finished, playable and enoyable) but its still a little to much to ask 20 $ for it. I would buy E.A. version fo 9,99 $ and that's all. And then when Retail will be released i'll read some reviews or watch some gamplay footages and then decide if its worh the full price.

Actually, yes. Under the early access business model, it's perfectly acceptable to release and pay for a partially-finished product.

That's kind of the freaking point.

Not necessarily everything, some good thing may as well come for free. Regardless of this, I agree, it is worth the money.

This mod is amazing! Feels like i'm playing a Valve's game, not a modification.
Now i understand what people felt like in 1998.

At first i made a really nice review to this game mod. But then i advanced further in the game and i got really pissed off... Yeah its pretty and scenic , yeah most of the voice acting is great and the music is fantastic but there is a huge annoying gash that just makes the game shit! AI: WHAT BASICALLY MAKES THE GAME SHIT AI: SHIIIT Soldiers...Im fine with other critters plaing running to eat you but soldiers(well the alien soldiers suck in this department as well). Anyway so where were we? oh…
