Prepare for an experience that you will find Nostalgic, exciting and fresh. Black Mesa is a re-envisioning of Valve Software's seminal game Half-Life. You will re-visit the inaugural role of Gordon Freeman and his memorable journey through the Black Mesa Research Facility.

Expect tremendously detailed environments to explore, a huge cast of characters and experimental weaponry. All-new music, voice acting, choreography and added dialogue give way to a more expansive and immersive experience than ever before. In a nutshell, play Half-life the way we think it was meant to be played!

Download Part 1 and Part 2 from ModDB or Torrent it.

Half-Life : Black Mesa

Have taken a look at this modification, was very little work done at the time and only 3 team members, and they planned lots of things we feel very strongly against.

Welcome, welcome back to BlackMesa.

This idea is very good. I liked the places at old BlackMesa. I read your articles at your perfect homepage and i like your plans.
The old, dark BlackMesa, back on Source™Engine. A paradise of good textures, good models, good lights, good sounds, and good old feelings of old times,...

I liked the ambience in Half-Life(1), because it was very familiar, all were your friends and you could make so much.

:) Go on, go on and remake BLACK MESA.

For anyone interested, official development of Black Mesa: Source will begin on January 1st, 2005. This allows for Holidays as well as people to get aquainted with the new tools they'll be using for development.

Go guys, I'll be watchin. My brother co-heading up the project (Kalashnikov) and he's a great level designer, his computer crapped out again though, gone into the shop, hope he gets it back soon. Anyways, good luck with the modification, I know you'll do it!

This mod is amazing! Feels like i'm playing a Valve's game, not a modification.
Now i understand what people felt like in 1998.

No matter how you slice it, it is still the same boring HALF-LIFE with improved graphics that look and feel outdated by four years. It was, and is, overhyped and overrated, but that does not mean that developers laid back and did nothing, oh no, they went above and beyond with level design. There are some new parts that were not in the original, but that's pretty much it. Also, it's not even a complete product. Yes, only 75% released, we're missing the final chapter of Xen. Why make something if…
