Prepare for an experience that you will find Nostalgic, exciting and fresh. Black Mesa is a re-envisioning of Valve Software's seminal game Half-Life. You will re-visit the inaugural role of Gordon Freeman and his memorable journey through the Black Mesa Research Facility.

Expect tremendously detailed environments to explore, a huge cast of characters and experimental weaponry. All-new music, voice acting, choreography and added dialogue give way to a more expansive and immersive experience than ever before. In a nutshell, play Half-life the way we think it was meant to be played!

Download Part 1 and Part 2 from ModDB or Torrent it.

Desura Digital Distribution

Instructions:
Once part 1 and 2 have been downloaded rename the files to include this format blackmesa.zip.001 for part one and blackmesa.zip.002 for part 2. Extract and copy files into sourcemods/BMS in your steamapps directory.

Features:

  • Play for FREE! You need not purchase anything!
  • 8-10 Hours of single-player gameplay, up to the Lambda Core chapter.
  • Feast your eyes on over 2,000 custom Models and 5,000 custom textures – more than HL2!
  • Experience over 2,000 choreographed scenes and over 6,500 lines of dialogue from all new voice acting!
  • Subtitles in English, Italian, Spanish, Norwegian, German, and Finnish!
  • Immerse yourself in an all new soundtrack and over 2,300 custom sound effects!
  • Feel the impact of custom systems such as the Face Creation System, Custom Gib System, Deathcam and more.

Well Satanicus, we cannot please everyone and you are that prime example. We are trying to increase the Half-Life 2 poly limits, but the polylimits on Half-Life 1 are being upped to the Half-Life 2 polylimits. I would like to ask you to direct yourself to our website, where (if you took the time to actually READ the information on this profile) it displays our full team. The Black Mesa: Source Development Team presently consists of 20 Developers with an additional six spots left vacant at this time: and this is only in the prelimiary stages. I see you have also begun a random posting at the Half-Life: Black Mesa profile as well.

I simply ask you to check out the website before making your judgement. We use this moddb profile as simply a gateway to our website which contains all the information you want. After reading your comments in the other Black Mesa mods as well, it appears that you are attempting to put HL: Black Mesa ahead of everyone, but if you would actually read the comments, and look at the websites: you'll see that your comparisons are far from perfect. Actually, they are perfectly FLAWED. Before posting, please simply read the full Modification Description and our website please. We are not in competition with any other modifications and we only want to create a Half-Life 1 experience that will entertain and fill the gap that Half-Life: Source has created.

Thank you.

yous are quite slow at gaining members and constructing this mod, the ideas are ok.. i rate em 6/10
but i like Half-Life:Black Mesa better, they hav more dedicated staff with more skill, progress is plentiful and their plot is good(8/10)
y dont yous give up cuz i doubt this mod will be used due to LAG!
not everyone has perfect computers man, u gotta get to reality cuz the overdosed
poly counts etc wont make a diff, but lag!
the SDK engine looks at its BEST on HL2 ALREADY when u put all at high!!! dont get me wrong!, they made all the units in HL2 look as unique and realistic as they could!, giving more polycounts will BARELY better units and increase lag!.... yous should stick with the normal poly count on HL2 SP/DM and this mod will b worth the download...

Forgetting to add this to my last post, everyone give a big congratulations to Section_Ei8ht our level designer & web developer for the BMS website taking third place in the best-website competition here at ModDB: for a mod that was only in the voting for 12 days of the two months, thats pretty impressive!

We still have yet to release our media, we know. We are perfecting it before any media is released, but when we release it: it will be coming out every hole on our bodies. Plans are to release media from every active area of development including the multiplayer and singleplayer aspects. Weapons & NPC Models, Level shots, textures, conceptual drawings and more!

This mod is amazing! Feels like i'm playing a Valve's game, not a modification.
Now i understand what people felt like in 1998.

No matter how you slice it, it is still the same boring HALF-LIFE with improved graphics that look and feel outdated by four years. It was, and is, overhyped and overrated, but that does not mean that developers laid back and did nothing, oh no, they went above and beyond with level design. There are some new parts that were not in the original, but that's pretty much it. Also, it's not even a complete product. Yes, only 75% released, we're missing the final chapter of Xen. Why make something if…
