Thanks
Cool interview.
UGGGG the sound quality is awful. Good interview though...
Aww, it wasn't that bad... the first minute or so was annoying getting used to the bit rate differences, but from then on it was just fine.
Awesome interview. Interesting as always to get behind certain minds of individuals. And I feel strongly about the fact there's too little good story developement in games. One of the few that blew my mind was how the story unflods in shadow of the collosus. With such minimalistic story telling everything fell into place upon completing it. Metal gear solid came to mind aswell and ofcourse valve itself is just awesome.
I'd be interested to see him work on an adventure style game myself, since it's been something I want to do too, providing I have an interesting story to tell. but heck yeah there's alot of room in games to tell decent stories, and I believe what games lack even more is the way their stories unfold. I don't mind cliche stuff, it comes down to dialog and how a story is told as a whole which is an aspect I feel can really grow much more into something better within the gaming comunity.
Great interview.
Ben Trumen, the one man who knows everything.
BLAK MAES IZ DED!
i think your right
Idiot.
Very nice. Good interview, great content. I really appreciate these interviews that give a look into the game design process, they help starting modders get a better understanding of what works and what doesn't. We all need tips and someone to look up to that's "done it" before.
Having a second skill really seems to be so important... knowing how to create something more than the ideas. That's difficult, but very much worth it.
No joke, I just about cried when I watched the Butterfly movie on www.bentruman.com
Nice interview guys!
It's true that writing and coming up with good ideas is one of the most challenging aspects of game design and it's sad that there are a great many game studios out there that don't put enough time into them.
I hope you get that job at Valve Ben!
Good work, looking forward to the next interview!
thanks guys for all the positive comments
Oh Hells Yeah!
In the next news I want to see screens of the best part (and most creative) of HL1: XEN!
:)
It's possible?
Its been said countless times that were not going to be seeing any xen screen-shots. This is because the DEV's want it to blow your mind, don't worry though we will probably be playing Black Mesa come fall.
omg when is this gonna be done OMG so cool
Thanks very much=)))))
I wonder... With a haircut, a hevsuit and some thicker lens', Ben Truman could pull off a full Gordon Freeman look! Seriously!
Awesome interview as well guys!
is the first voice you hear a girl or a 11 year old boy?
A 15 year old boy...omgz just listen to the interview and dont complain about voices.
Same age as you... And More of a man than you will EVER be.
And with this comment, thereby showing your immaturity.
It really doesn't matter what age the interviewer is as long as they do a good job, which he does here.
thanks :D
urghh, lrn2 ask better interview questions
Ugh, learn to spell.
fall, that's the release date? whaaaaa!
who said that?
neat. although i was disappointed that after not seeing an update for quite some time and then seeing an update i thought the mod was released!
whats up with the fake "stash", btw nice to hear good stuff about digipen gonna try and get in there myself.
less interviews, more releasing the game.
Needs more cowbell.
Rather than criticize the feminine voice or the man with a cold, I'm just going to say awesome interview. Answered a lot of questions on my mind. Quite thought provoking. Well done, I look forward to more such interviews!
