Black Mesa: Hazard Course is an add-on for the Source Engine mod Black Mesa, featuring a completely new perspective on Half-Life's Hazard Course. The Black Mesa Hazard Course will feature:

-New HD models & textures
-New dialogue & voice acting
-New maps and detailed environments
-Expanded intro, similar to Half-Life's PS2 version

Since this is a community project, we welcome people to help out in any way, from suggestions to fan-made content. Currently we are looking for people to fill these positions:

Any suggestions (within reasonable bounds, of course) are also welcome from anybody!

Media Policy

Remember that great mod, Black Mesa? Anyone familiar with the Black Mesa mod and its agonizing development cycle may remember long periods of media blackout. Since this is a community project rather than a full-fledged modding team, we are pleased to announce that, unlike the original mod, it will be our policy to strive to be as open as possible with the development process!

That's right. Expect to see half-finished areas, heavy WiPs and lots of orange and gray "dev" textures!

We do, however, announce this policy with a disclaimer: We hope that all of our followers will try their best to be as mature as possible, and realize that due to the open nature of our development process, the vast majority of media that will be released will NOT be fully representative of the final product.

This can be a good thing! It allows YOU, the followers, to give feedback early, so that we can make easy changes to give YOU what you want!

So criticize away! Just keep it civil!

Is this mod dead?

If you're reading this, then no. There is no point in letting a project die without notice. If we were to die, we'd be sure to let you know, however we have absolutely zero plans on doing so, and the mod is currently going strong.

Black Mesa: Hazard Course requires:
-The free Source SDK Base 2007
-Black Mesa

Thank you. Have a very safe, and productive day.

For those of you who missed the livestream (most of you, due to ModDB's authorization process not kicking in with the link until after the stream ended) we've posted up a recording of it.

The developers and testers involved had a marvelous time doing the stream, even with the numerous technical difficulties involved, and we're considering possibly doing it again sometime.
Not every single question asked on ModDB was answered, due to timing issues between the stream and getting this recording up, but we've gone back and done our best to answer any questions left unanswered where they were asked.
Thanks to the community and all those involved for their contributions and support!

Valve fixed the issue with Source SDK almost a couple of weeks ago.

We haven't updated with a new post, but some of us have been able to resume development. IIRC, there are still one or two down for the count, and we're all busy with exams and work, but things are getting done.
We'll probably update the news once we get some media to show.

Well, this isn't really a Hazard Course update, but since the SDK is nonfunctional at the moment and I'm bored, I decided to upload the portal I designed for Black Mesa way back when I was on the Development Team. It's in my downloads if anyone wants to play around with it.

Uh, no. Black Mesa runs on 2007, therefore it would be a bad idea to work on 2013 compile tools. You must not have read the news post thoroughly.

Our apologies, I've just checked the spam box and I've got your email right here. That seems to happen with a lot of our apps.

Anyway, I won't respond to it right this second, as we're not "officially" accepting applicants, and we want to be fair with people who've applied in the past, and people who will apply once we're ready. We'll have a detailed news post up about that soon (hopefully). We do save all apps we get, though, so you'll be remembered come testing time.

Apologies for the late reply, we're actually a month behind due to some inexplicably bugged level transitions.
