Black Mesa: Hazard Course is an add-on for the Source Engine mod Black Mesa, featuring a completely new perspective on Half-Life's Hazard Course. The Black Mesa Hazard Course will feature:

-New HD models & textures
-New dialogue & voice acting
-New maps and detailed environments
-Expanded intro, similar to Half-Life's PS2 version

Since this is a community project, we welcome people to help out in any way, from suggestions to fan-made content. Currently we are looking for people to fill these positions:


Any suggestions (within reasonable bounds, of course) are also welcome from anybody!

Media Policy

Remember that great mod, Black Mesa? Anyone familiar with the Black Mesa mod and its agonizing development cycle may remember long periods of media blackout. Since this is a community project rather than a full-fledged modding team, we are pleased to announce that, unlike the original mod, it will be our policy to strive to be as open as possible with the development process! 

That's right. Expect to see half-finished areas, heavy WiPs and lots of orange and gray "dev" textures!

We do, however, announce this policy with a disclaimer: We hope that all of our followers will try their best to be as mature as possible, and realize that due to the open nature of our development process, the vast majority of media that will be released will NOT be fully representative of the final product.

This can be a good thing! It allows YOU, the followers, to give feedback early, so that we can make easy changes to give YOU what you want!

So criticize away! Just keep it civil!

Is this mod dead?

If you're reading this, then no. There is no point in letting a project die without notice. If we were to die, we'd be sure to let you know, however we have absolutely zero plans on doing so, and the mod is currently going strong.

Hello again, ModDB. It's been a few months since our last big update. Sorry to leaf you in the dark, but heading back to our roots we're gonna bark up a storm of progress as we branch off to a new milestone. Tree.

We're happy to say that Hazard Course has entered its third and final Alpha phase! Not only is this a very nice milestone, but also one that we were actually able to meet our deadlines for. Shocker, right? (Especially, after that Alpha 2 stint...) Regardless, despite the last few months being filled with work, exams, and Building Managers incapable of delivering furniture on time instead of a month late, we met our goal. As a bit of celebration, we come bearing gifts.

Battery Room

Keeping with the paradigm of previous Alpha announcements, we're ready to accept another couple of testers. We're once again resetting the tester queue and anyone interested should apply (even if you've already applied in the past). Space is very, very limited, however, so don't be discouraged if you don't get accepted. We're mostly still in school, it can be hard for us to manage groups of people with feedback, you know! If you're interested, hit up the Tester listing on our jobs page and read the terms thoroughly. This will be the last version that we'll be accepting new testers, as we feel our current team is suitable.

If you try to go through the locked door repeatedly without the secuity guard near the end of the Hazard Course the VOX will give you some funny responses. My fav being "Will we do this all day?". Is this going to appear in the mod too?

Looks really good so far.. Make sure to implement that little cutted scene of the PS2 version as well for the full experience. You can see it in Half-Life Induction for example.

If you browse through the images, you'll see they recreated the tram station.The lobby is a suprise (I guess?).

Like in Half-Life Source, There will be a "Training Mode" option from main menu. And Also, can you get rid of those HEV Hints from Anomalous Materials and Unforseen Consequences as possible?

It's possible, but I don't see why that would be necessary. It's a bunch of work that you'd have to do to remove something that isn't all that intrusive anyway. You could always just ignore them, after all.

1.This will most likely never get implented into BM:S due Raminators view on training levels.
2.Probably not since the hints are probably in the source code?
