Overview

Black Mesa: Hazard Course is an add-on for the Source Engine mod Black Mesa, featuring a completely new perspective on Half-Life's Hazard Course. The Black Mesa Hazard Course will feature:

-New HD models & textures
-New dialogue & voice acting
-New maps and detailed environments
-Expanded intro, similar to Half-Life's PS2 version

Since this is a community project, we welcome people to help out in any way, from suggestions to fan-made content. Currently we are looking for people to fill these positions:

-Animator
-Choreographer

Any suggestions (within reasonable bounds, of course) are also welcome from anybody!

Media Policy

Remember that great mod, Black Mesa? Anyone familiar with the Black Mesa mod and its agonizing development cycle may remember long periods of media blackout. Since this is a community project rather than a full-fledged modding team, we are pleased to announce that, unlike the original mod, it will be our policy to strive to be as open as possible with the development process!

That's right. Expect to see half-finished areas, heavy WiPs and lots of orange and gray "dev" textures!

We do, however, announce this policy with a disclaimer: We hope that all of our followers will try their best to be as mature as possible, and realize that due to the open nature of our development process, the vast majority of media that will be released will NOT be fully representative of the final product.

This can be a good thing! It allows YOU, the followers, to give feedback early, so that we can make easy changes to give YOU what you want!

So criticize away! Just keep it civil!

Is this mod dead?

If you're reading this, then no. There is no point in letting a project die without notice. If we were to die, we'd be sure to let you know, however we have absolutely zero plans on doing so, and the mod is currently going strong.

Good day yet again, people of ModDB. We trust it finds you well. As for us, we're busy Hammering away at this Course, and it's actually coming along quite well!

Tram Training

Over the last few months we've been working our way out of this Alpha phase and into Beta, and while we're not quite there yet, it's certainly in sight! Yep, through university, work and a hint of Impatience, we're polishing our levels and - while we don't want anyone to jump the gun - even working on the finishing touches on a couple. It's all quite pretty and fun if we do say so ourselves.

Holobutton

Alongside that, our script is nearing its final revision. That's right, our bit of additional storytelling is coming in clear and almost ready for implementation. Amidst all of this progress, though, we have hit a minor speed bump.

You see, currently the only one of our members with choreography know-how isn't very experienced. We could make do, but certainly don't want to bring down the quality of this little mod with bad choreography and faceposing, so we need your help. If anyone reading is interested or knows someone who might be, hit up the job page and get in contact with us so we can start bringing this script to life!

Simply put, right now there should only be one conflicting file, which you can make compatible in just a few seconds.

We haven't gotten to that point yet since we're technically still sort of in alpha, but we've considered creating a compatible scenes.image for both. We can't, however, generate a compatible scenes.image file for every single Black Mesa mod out there, so for other Black Mesa mods it looks like you might be on your own to make your own scenes.image.

That said, it's not particularly hard. You really only have to press a button to generate a new scenes.image once you have the files loaded in their proper places.

But you still gonna have the alien grunts and some other npcs in your mod? If so, can you share the Npcs code with me?

PS: in your images i see the human grunt, so you probably have the NPC's code? Thank you if you are willing to share it.

To be a bit more clear, our mod is not a separate mod from Black Mesa. When we release you will have to copy our maps/materials/etc. to your Black Mesa directory. We're basically an *addon to* Black Mesa. Like I said, you'll have to ask the BM Team.

The Hazard Course has only friendly human NPCs like the guard and scientist.
