Overview

Black Mesa: Hazard Course is an add-on for the Source Engine mod Black Mesa, featuring a completely new perspective on Half-Life's Hazard Course. The Black Mesa Hazard Course will feature:

-New HD models & textures
-New dialogue & voice acting
-New maps and detailed environments
-Expanded intro, similar to Half-Life's PS2 version

Since this is a community project, we welcome people to help out in any way, from suggestions to fan-made content. Currently we are looking for people to fill these positions:

-Animator
-Choreographer

Any suggestions (within reasonable bounds, of course) are also welcome from anybody!

Media Policy

Remember that great mod, Black Mesa? Anyone familiar with the Black Mesa mod and its agonizing development cycle may remember long periods of media blackout. Since this is a community project rather than a full-fledged modding team, we are pleased to announce that, unlike the original mod, it will be our policy to strive to be as open as possible with the development process!

That's right. Expect to see half-finished areas, heavy WiPs and lots of orange and gray "dev" textures!

We do, however, announce this policy with a disclaimer: We hope that all of our followers will try their best to be as mature as possible, and realize that due to the open nature of our development process, the vast majority of media that will be released will NOT be fully representative of the final product.

This can be a good thing! It allows YOU, the followers, to give feedback early, so that we can make easy changes to give YOU what you want!

So criticize away! Just keep it civil!

Is this mod dead?

If you're reading this, then no. There is no point in letting a project die without notice. If we were to die, we'd be sure to let you know, however we have absolutely zero plans on doing so, and the mod is currently going strong.

Greetings, fans, players and modders alike!
Happy holidays from the Hazard Dev Team! Merry Christmas! Merry Coursemas! I'm so sorry.
As much as we hate to keep you from your candy-cane shanks, we've got some paragraphs and goodies for you.

We've been in development since shortly after Black Mesa's first release. That makes us a bit over 2 years old. In that time, our members have learned a lot, and we think it shows. Just look at the comparison images above!

While we're not exactly stoked at our development's time span, we do think that because of it, the Hazard Course that you get to experience on release will be worlds better than what you would have if some silly team members' early estimates were correct.

As we enter Beta 1, the course is prettier, longer, and overall more fun, and the end is slowly getting easier to see. At this point, our largest hurdle is choreography. We remain without any actual choreographers on the team, and we can't make use of our neat little script or voice actors without one or two. That's a huge slowdown. If we can get that sorted, we'll be ready for a release in 2015 for sure. Can you guys help us out with that? If you're a Source Choreographer or know one, why don't you check out the job page and send us an application? Sort of important!

Hey, I know there are probably many experienced mod developers passing through here so I thought I'd bring this up:
I don't know if any of you've heard about the (now dead) mod hazard team or decay: source. It passed away some time ago ,and I hope others share my sadness as they read this, so I was wondering if anyone on the hazard course dev team is interested in reviving it? Is anyone actually still interested in the mod at all?

That was a sad December day for me!
Personally I'd be interested in giving it a shot once I'm done with my current projects. The team however doesn't have any plans *at the moment* for anything. HC is our focus until it's time for release.

Pretty good, thanks. Most of the changes we've made recently are entity work and minor tweaks, so sadly we don't have much new to show you in the way of media, but hopefully we'll have something substantial enough to warrant new shots or a nice video sometime in the nearish future.

Yes, I have. I looked through your mod's media and comment sections before replying, and no one on our team has done anything rude towards you. BoxNoob hasn't been on our team for months, and even if he was, he's acting of his own accord, not our team's. Personally, I feel it's very cad-like to try and bring the argument to our page due to some ambiguous comments that could be interpreted as rude. You're problem doesn't lie with us.

Yeah, actually I did, because no newer model does that. I think it's because of the old disc drives and how often they fail.
