- BEATDOWN -


Information:
The main point of the mod is BLOOD BATH. Constant action, bloody fights, riots, usage of gang weapons (more use of melee and less use of firearms) and heavy shoot outs. Basically this is how it's supposed to work: - you join a server and choose a team. After selecting a team go and have some fun with your gang.

Teams:

There are 3 teams in the mod:

  • Skulls - an African-American gang.
  • Cartel - a Mexican gang.
  • Rejects - a white supremacist gang.

Weapons:

The weapons used will be so called "cheap" ones and very distributed ones. We want to place the main accent on melee weapons, then make pistols second, SMG's third and shotguns and rifles sometimes used. Full list of weapons:

  • 44 bulldog

  • Tec 9
  • Mac 10
  • Remington 870
  • Sawn off shotgun
  • AK 47

Game mode:

The game mode works like this - you choose a team then spawn, then you will be given some starter money and a weapon purchase menu will pop up. After you selected your weapons, you are ready to move out. Your goal is to: steal other gangs drug stashes and eliminate rival gang members. Each gang has a drug stash which has 10 packs in it. Each pack is worth 50$. Every eliminated gang member is worth 25$. This might be cheap, but main point of Beatdown is to stick to melee weapons and bloody fights at first, then purchasing firearms later in the round. The round is ended if: one gang has ALL the drug stashes, one gang has eliminated everyone else or if the time runs out the round is a draw.

Maps:
There will be three maps included in the first release.
bd_projects - largest map of them all. It's been built by the government as housing for the less fortunate people, but it turned into a really dark ghetto area not so long after that.
bd_warehouse - a warehouse in an industrial area. Due to the power cuts the warehouse has been having problems with electricity and lightning.
bd_street - the street is the main center of activity but it has a small surrounding area of buildings, a park, restaurant and a few more places.

Update and Map Previews!

News

Heya! Atomic here, here's an update to keep you all posted of the work being done on Beatdown. Lets start off:

[] Overall it's all doing great, the mod is being developed really good and everybody is putting in a lot of effort to make it as best as possible. Coding has started earlier this week and it's going up pretty good. The weapons models are done as you can see, now items, which will be either used or seen in game, are being modeled. Mapping and sound is moving up really well too.

All in all, everything is great!

[] Now, something we haven't posted an update off yet: maps. We've been working a lot on the maps and we still have a few weeks of tweaking, adding some changes, doing some HDR work etc. It's all WIP. Check out the two map sneak peaks, for bd_street and bd_warehouse. Just note that it's not the final map version, just a screenshot to show what are we doing.

Not high blackmarket availability? I dunno really, don't have that many black markets around where I live, but I'd guess that could be one possible answer.

Maybe not a blow-torch (after all, what gangsta has one of _them_ at home?) - but perhaps a molotov cocktail, or a 'nade or two?

Any suggestion of an ETA for a beta? Hell, I'd even playtest an early alpha for ya!

We might add Molotov's, we'll see. About the ETA, really no clue on that. The nearest test we'll do will be closed map tests on HL2DM to check out if the maps have any glitches or something which needs fixing.

This mod looks great, melee combat in ghetto scenarios always brings a smile. I cant do much but if you need any original high quality graffiti pieces or cinematic/hiphop music to make your game more atmospheric id be happy to draw/make you something.
just throwing it out there but a key with coke on it would be a crazy health tool, also something I noticed from so many gta4 melee games (and warriors too) is having certain areas kinda like king hills and a couple of random, slightly more powerful weapons thrown in would add alot to it.
If you have only melee weapons in certain modes, things like high rooftops with the ability to knock people off and similar hazardous areas (moving train/cars etc) would really rub some funk on it.
