A brief overview of Battlefront Chronicles, an upcoming mod for Star Wars Battlefront II.

Posted by on

Hello!

I am very pleased to introduce Battlefront Chronicles, my upcoming mod for Star Wars Battlefront II. This project has been in the making for quite a long time. The initial concept was born in the final days of my previous project, although it was not until this summer that I hunkered down and began to transform the concept into an actual product. The mod has three main features: new maps, new sides, and new campaign missions.

Battlefront Chronicles The maps were the first aspect of the mod to really take shape. I've always enjoyed the stock maps in Battlefront II, but they have inevitably become a little dull after six years. With this in mind, I set out to create a mod that would include both my interpretations of assorted stock worlds, such as Geonosis and Hoth, and entirely new worlds, such as Boz Pity and Saleucami. At present, I have five maps well on their way to being completed, with many more still to come.

Much like the maps, I always enjoyed Battlefront II's stock sides, but felt like I could use a change after all this time. The sides for Battlefront Chronicles maintain the same basic structure as the stock sides, but include plenty of changes that I think will provide a better - or at least different - gameplay experience. Some weapon loadouts have changed, the collection of special units has expanded, and there are, of course, many visual updates.

Battlefront Chronicles As for the new campaign missions, I can't go
into too much detail just yet. The mod's campaign aspect is still very much in the conceptual stage. It has to be the last feature to be added anyway, since the maps and sides must be completed before I can do any scripting for them. Suffice it to say that there will be some sort of campaign mode that will take players through events from the movies and many other adventures in between!

That concludes this little overview of Battlefront Chronicles. More updates will be coming soon, so stay tuned! In the meantime, be sure to check out the screenshots in the gallery.

Sweet! I agree that Battlefront 2 can get boring after playing it for years, and this mod looks like it will make a new experience

please make the shots of the vehicles fast and acualy do some damage.. in BF1 the shots where slow and big, but still did some damage and had explosive capability, in BFII the shots where nerfed to almost the same level as a rifle, though they added som "heavt shot" on some vehicles to compensate, but boring nonetheless, as an example the shots on the AT-AT where slow and BIG as they where in the first game, but now they also lacked the power?? they introduced some green heavy ones but, as seen in the movies red lasers from AT-AT are both rather fast aswell as powerfull...

good luck and keep it up =]

Unfortunately, yes. Battlefront II modding is pretty much limited to the PC. It is possible to mod the Xbox, PS2, and PSP versions to some extent, but it is much more difficult, and there are no official tools to do so. To date, the only console mod for the game is Teancum's SWBF2 Xbox Mod, which you can check out here: Gametoast.com.

Impressive simply in the fact someone managed to do it. Considering Xbox no longer has LIVE, I guess everyone's free to hack their old Xbox consoles as they wish...

Hmm...

The possibilities sound intriguing...
