With the new site up and the radio command contest come to an end, you and I both know it’s about time we had an update… so let’s not delay any further!
Today, I’m proud to unveil the first of seven of the Pegleg classes, the “Assault” character.
Designed by Mike "Wheeljack" Perry, this character will also serve as the base character model for the generic Pegleg class in our first release. This character highlights the unique style that BFP2 will have- a somewhat animated, "ready for battle" look. A 360 degree wip of this character, modeled by Owen "Eturnip" McManus, can be found Here; (QuickTime required)....
---===---
The amount of planning we have put into BFP2 rivals that of major commercial game titles, and in the next of couple weeks I strongly encourage you to check out a few dev journals about to be posted up from past meetings that myself, and the heads of our two biggest departments; 3d (Owen "Eturnip" McManus) and Art (Mike "Wheeljack" Perry) attended in person- a great read for those who want to know more about the team, just how much planning is going into the mod, and the direction we are heading with BFP2.
Next up, our first of two levels planned for the first public release of BFP2; designed by Captain Guy Smiley (those in the modding community know him as Lawrence Brown). The level is named Pelican Point, and we'll see the majority of combat centered around a lone lighthouse and its surrounding islands.
While the level is still a work in progress (as you can tell by the place holder cannons and textures), it's a hint of what you can expect in the first release...
Now that a majority of the planning is complete on BFP2, we’re ready to start enlisting the help of a talented level designer to help bring our game to life. Details on the position can be found Here.
Speaking of first release, just what can you expect? Well, we all know much of the community wants to get their hands on bfp2 as fast as they can, so with that in mind we're working towards smaller, polished releases, which will double in the amount of content every release. So the first release will see 1 generic character class with basic weapons, a few ships, and 2 maps. The second will start to see the specialization of classes, and double the content of the last.
In addition to a level designer we are also in need of a talented weapon skinner. We have many models awaiting quality textures, so if you are looking to work on a unique game with a lot of other talented artists, please click Here for more info.
Before we sign off today, we want to leave you with a composition of sound files by CaptainRED which are sure to get you drawing your cutlasses and raiding the nearest town. Click Here to listen!
