The Battlefield 2-modification "Battlefield: Korea" deals with the Korean War (1950 - 1953), which is also known as "Forgotten War".
The main fractions are: (UN) US, South Korea against North Korea and China.
Most weapons and vehicles which used in the Korean War became famous during WWII (T-34/85, PPSh-41, M1 Garand, M1/M2 Carbine,...) but there were also innovations -
for instance weapons and tanks which were developed during WWII but came to late to gain significance (i.e. the M26 Pershing tank or the 3.5" M20 Super Bazooka) or jets which were used by both sides in big quantities for the first time (F-80 Shootingstar, F-86 Sabre, MiG-15,..)

Our goal is an adequate mix of realism and 'simple gameplay' focusing on historical accuracy and fun.

This is our latest BF-Korea news update.
We are sorry for the long period of absence which was due to final exams at school some of our hardcore developers had to take. But some weeks ago we could continue our work and now we can proudly present our results.

First of all we will do the start-up with the Hanyang Type 88 rifle. It was widley used by Chinese forces during the Second Sino-Japanese War. This bolt-action rifle was a copy of the German WWI Gewehr 88 of inferior quality and the production was stopped when the Hanyang arsenal was shut down in 1947. However, this rifle represents the big varity of bolt-action rifles used during the Korean War.

Our second model is another bolt-action rifle that was used by the Chinese forces: the Japanese Arisaka Type 99. During World War Two the Chinese captured huge quantities of these rifles and used them to extend their insufficient arsenals.

The next model depicts the Czech Zb vz.26. This light machine gun was produced before World War Two and has been exported to China. It is the ancestor of the famous British Bren LMG.

The DP-28. Since the DP was a very important weapon for the Communist forces, we completly re-did the model and skin of this soviet-produced light machine gun in replacement for the old model.

Last but not least: The jewel of this news update.
The M72 motorbike with sidecar. These soviet-built motorbikes were copies of the German BMW R-71. After World War Two they saw combat in the Korean War. They have been used by North-Korean motorized units and were armed with the DP-28.
It was exported and coded by c_A_p_o_N_e

Now we will concentrate on other essential tasks like modelling statics so that we can create Korean War-themed maps.

your BFK-Team

I'm reading an awesome book on the Korean War, this mod looks awesome! Too bad I don't have Battlefield 2. I might have to buy it now, well in any case, I'm tracking it. :)

A korean war game would be amazing. Anyone who says otherwise has probably not researched the conflict. Think of the epic chinese human wave attacks. How would that not be fun in a game?

Anyway, this mod looks cool. Looking forward to it.

that's longer than the gulf war, the iraq war and only 1 year shorther than WWI.
And therefore the battles were much more intensive than in Vietnam (similiar number of casualties in a much shorter period of time)

...beside, the number of years aren't interesting for a game unless you want to play a whole war in real time - the important factor are significance, itensity, aresenals, etc...

Well we do have the two most iconic jets of the war ingame. The F-86 Sabre and the Mig-15.

As of right now we dont have the manpower to put everything in game that we wanted to initially. As always, we greatly need the help of fellow modders of like skill to these guys.

although the screenshots don't show any HUD at all we wont use crosshairs, so you'll have to use your weapon's ironsights to aim (a small tribute to realism, hehe)

No crosshairs? Yay! I hope your effort in realism isn't limited to that.
