The Battlefield 2-modification "Battlefield: Korea" deals with the Korean War (1950 - 1953), which is also known as "Forgotten War".
The main fractions are: (UN) US, South Korea against North Korea and China.
Most weapons and vehicles which used in the Korean War became famous during WWII (T-34/85, PPSh-41, M1 Garand, M1/M2 Carbine,...) but there were also innovations -
for instance weapons and tanks which were developed during WWII but came to late to gain significance (i.e. the M26 Pershing tank or the 3.5" M20 Super Bazooka) or jets which were used by both sides in big quantities for the first time (F-80 Shootingstar, F-86 Sabre, MiG-15,..)

Our goal is an adequate mix of realism and 'simple gameplay' focusing on historical accuracy and fun.

This is our latest BF-Korea news update.
We are sorry for the long period of absence which was due to final exams at school some of our hardcore developers had to take. But some weeks ago we could continue our work and now we can proudly present our results.

First of all we will do the start-up with the Hanyang Type 88 rifle. It was widley used by Chinese forces during the Second Sino-Japanese War. This bolt-action rifle was a copy of the German WWI Gewehr 88 of inferior quality and the production was stopped when the Hanyang arsenal was shut down in 1947. However, this rifle represents the big varity of bolt-action rifles used during the Korean War.

Our second model is another bolt-action rifle that was used by the Chinese forces: the Japanese Arisaka Type 99. During World War Two the Chinese captured huge quantities of these rifles and used them to extend their insufficient arsenals.

The next model depicts the Czech Zb vz.26. This light machine gun was produced before World War Two and has been exported to China. It is the ancestor of the famous British Bren LMG.

The DP-28. Since the DP was a very important weapon for the Communist forces, we completly re-did the model and skin of this soviet-produced light machine gun in replacement for the old model.

Last but not least: The jewel of this news update.
The M72 motorbike with sidecar. These soviet-built motorbikes were copies of the German BMW R-71. After World War Two they saw combat in the Korean War. They have been used by North-Korean motorized units and were armed with the DP-28.
It was exported and coded by c_A_p_o_N_e

Now we will concentrate on other essential tasks like modelling statics so that we can create Korean War-themed maps.

World at War is interested in the M26 pershing, if we were able to obtain the files for that so we can put it to usage so it wouldnt go in vain!

Sorry guys, I am the old public relations guy from this mod. It is sadly dead now, and I can't get a hold of the files as they were just removed from the ftp.

That is NOT to say that the excellent models will not go to use in another AAA+ mod.

I will update this page when I have more news to tell you, but until then, if any have questions, you can PC me.

It is sad to see a mod that had so much potential die, and believe me, I was its biggest follower. My grandfather was in the Korean war for the full 3 years of the conflict.

This was my way of connecting with him...

Thanks for all the fans over the years. We made the mod have a great community that will never be forgotten.

does this have SP support??
I suggest you mates to include other Cold War conflicts such as the Cuban Revolution, Congo, South American insurgencies againts USA supported coups d'etat, China, etc. and doing so create the only mod about the Cold War, other than Vietnam War. its such a good idea don't now why nobody done it yet...

Files still exist, however they cannot be released publicly.

Content from this mod is in Dogs of War, IDF:FFI, and a few other mods.

The problem with not just releasing it with all the content it has is that bolt-action rifles don't even have a real animation (just one lobbed on from the M24). If someone can make those (or fit on chad509's), then the mod would be in better shape.

No guarantees, so don't quote this.

My final question is does The Dark still help out with the modding team? The last time I spoke to him (2 yeas ago) was when he was still making maps for general release and for the Mercs and MCC mods. He suddenly disappeared while working on a really cool map that was never released. (I have a copy of the almost ready for release map) but he'd mentioned that he was getting more involved with your mod. He'd be brilliant at creating maps for the mod if he's still around. unfortunately his site wet down a year ago and i've not seen any sign of him since.

Please excuse the waffle, I’m full of opiate meds due to a serious r.t.a. five years ago. I have to take strong meds which for some reason make me waffle on a little too much, I hope you don’t mind. :)

continued from previous post....

During that time I occasionally checked the net for news of this mod and must admit was a little concerned at the lack of news over the last year, but I'm sure after all the work the team have done for this mod they wouldn't just scrap it. there's been too much time invested in the project.

Okay the engine that BF2 uses is well outdated now, but the game still looks good when the maps have been built well. Now with much more powerful machines that most of us have compared to when BF2 was first released I struggled to get more than 50 bots working on most custom maps using bot changer. now with our dual and Quad cores and up to 16Gb of memory the maps can be really maxed out with respect to filling them with goodies and great landscapes.

I am so looking forwards to seeing this mod finally released.

I would like to ask a couple of questions. Have you guys any idea when there will be a beta release of the mod? I would love to get involved in the testingI've just returned to testing Hayabusa's maps for his Mercenaries mod and am really enjoying myself
I've been involved in testing three different mods two of which I've already mentioned and also the MCC mod. I always take my time checking every part of th mod and the maps that are released with it, trying to find glitches and other problems and offering my own suggestions .

I've been waiting for this mod to be released for quite a few years now. I played BF2 exclusively for almost 3 years from the time it was released back in 2005 and have beta tested on several mods and helped several mapper’s such as Hayabusa, The Dark and Bigfoot to name a few. The last mods I was involved in for Beta testing were Hayabusas Mercenaries mod and MadOsga's Marines mod (just beta testing). I was buying other games, but none compared to BF2 so they wre shelved, most of which I'd not even bothered to check out. Then about 2 years ago I stopped playing as I had accumulated a massive backlog of games to catch up on, many of which were actually really good games (Brothers in Arms, Company of Heroes, Oblivion plus expansion, Mercenaries 2 both the Crysis games, Unreal Tournament, Far Cry 2, Silent Hunter IV as well as loads more.
