The Battlefield 2 total conversion historical realism modification "Battlefield: Korea" deals with the Korean War (1950 - 1953), which is also known as the "Forgotten War".

Report RSS Communist Weapons update!

Today we wanted to finally show off our Communist weapons. We hope you enjoy!

Posted by on

Hello everybody, getting ready for our first ever release, we wanted to get you all hyped by showing off all the handheld weapons for the Communist forces.

Lets start with the pistols.

A staple of the Soviet Army during WW2, the Tokarev TT-33 pistol will be found in many kits for the Chinese and North Koreans. Thanks to Project Reality for this pistol.

Next we have the Type 14 Nambu pistol. These were captured in large numbers by the Chinese forces in WW2, so a lot were readily available for use in the Korean War.

Additionally we have the Mauser C96, a very famous German pistol, which the Chinese and North Koreans were very fond of. We have 2 versions of this pistol, one is the semi-automatic version which was widely available, and then we have the Broomhandle Mauser M712 "Schnellfeuer" an awesome fully automatic machine pistol, complete with an extended clip 20 round magazine. The sniper classes will have this weapon as a secondary backup gun.

Now we would like to show off the backbone of the Chinese PVA, and North Korean KPA armies infantry weapons. Most troops during the war were fielded with various WW2 era bolt action rifles. Weapons came from a wide number of sources, with some being licensed built clones of weapons.

Known abroad as the Kar98, the Type 24 Chiang Kai-Shek rifle (Zhongzheng rifle (中正式), Jiang Jieshi Rifle) was actually a Chinese built clone of the the Kar98, in use since 1935, the weapon was produced in large enough numbers to be used significantly during the Korean War. This weapon is used exclusively by the Chinese. Thanks to EOD2/BGF/PR:WW2 for this rifle.

Next up is another WW2 era rifle used extensively by the Chinese forces after capturing large quantities of them from the Japanese in WW2. The Arisaka T99 comes with 3 attachments, bayonet, rifle grenade and smoke. Thanks to FH2 Community Map Pack for donating this rifle from their Pacific theater.

Next in line is the Mosin Nagant 91/30, which comes in 2 flavors. Regular and scoped versions for precision sniping with the 3.5x PU scope. The North Koreans will have both versions, but the Chinese Sniper Class will also come with the PU version. These were probably the most numerous rifles fielded by the North Koreans and the Chinese, as the Soviet Union donated these in large numbers.

The next weapon there seems to be a lot of debate about if this was used in the Korean War, but the War Memorial Museum in Seoul has this weapon on display as used in small numbers by the Communist forces. They had MiG 15's so it isn't impossible that they used the SKS, also this is to give more balanced gameplay against the US Marines since they have the M1 Garand and M1/2 Carbines.

The SKS is a semi-automatic carbine which has 1 attachment in the form of a bayonet. It will be used by the North Korean forces assault class. This was the 2nd gun made for the 7.62×39mm round, which would also go on to be used in the AK47.

Next are some awesome SMG's. These weapons were utilized to great effect in the urban environments of North and South Korea.

The PPS43 was a favorite of the Communist, as well as was it's older sibling the PPSH41. The PPS43 is utilized by the special forces class, and the PPSH41 is what the Engineers will use on the Communist teams.

The PPSH41 has the 71 round drum magazine.

The British Sten MK II was also another favorite used. This weapon is the secondary firearm for the Anti-Tank class.

Now we are bringing out the big guns.

The Chinese used the Type 99 LMG which they had captured from the Japanese during WW2. This weapon can be fired standing or deployed for better accuracy. Thanks to Kraetzer from FH2 for donating this weapon to us from the FH2 Community Map pack minimod addon from the Pacific theater.

The North Koreans will be using the awesome Degtyaryov 1928 or also known as the DP-28. This weapon uses a much larger magazine than any of the other LMG's like the Type 99 or B.A.R. Both of which only use 20 round magazines. This weapon will be using 47 round magazine. This weapon can also be deployed to be fired in prone position for better accuracy.

Finally our last gun is the PTRD-41 Anti-Tank Rifle. This weapon is equally deadly against humans and vehicles, it will take a few hits to take out more heavily armored tanks, but nevertheless is it force to behold. Thanks to BGF for this weapon.

Next we have some various explosive weapons.

The POMZ-2 Anti-Personnel Mine are stake mounted anti-personnel fragmentation mines. These will be part of the Engineers kits for the Communist.

Next is the RPG-43 Anti-Tank grenade. This will be included in the North Koreans Assault kit, since the SKS doesn't use rifle grenades like the M1 Garand and Arisaka do. This will also become part of the Anti-Tank classes for both the Chinese and North Koreans. Thanks to BGF for this weapon.

I wanted to show off our new M4A3 Sherman as a bonus, as well as show off some of our new lighting and explosion effects. Project Reality donated their explosion effects, and custom shaders, and Anthony817 implemented "Pseudo High Dynamic Range" and Bloom lighting effects to give the mod more modern looking graphics. This isn't done with any post processing overlays or ENBSeries, these are all done in game engine.

This awesome tank was specifically made for our mod by General_Bradly from the IDF mod. We would like to give a huge shout-out to him for being so helpful and supporting this mod while still being completely dedicated towards IDF. Anthony817 did the texture edits on this tank.

Here you can really see the new lighting much better.

Lastly before we go, here are some new pictures of our A-1 Skyraider with brand new cockpit model created for us by Rhino over at Project Reality, with the textures on the gauges edited by Anthony817. Also worth noting is the improved effects from napalm and bombs, as well as the bloom lighting and other effects.

That's all for now folks, until next time! Please don't forget to vote for us in the Moddb Mod of the Year Awards!

Amazing work indeed! I like the new weapons, vehicles, lighting and explosion effects. The only thing which I would improve are the Iron Sights of the PPS43, but expect that everything is perfect!

Thanks! Like I said on the page I uploaded the pictures of the PPS43 on, we unfortunately don't have proper animations and 3D sights for it yet. Nobody has come forward to fix up all the loose ends and placeholder stuff we have right now. We got a new member from China on board who will be able to help us improve the mod over the next few months, but for right now, some things just unfortunately couldn't be done for the first release. If I don't get this out and keep making people wait, it will do us no good. Project reality uses placeholder stuff, as well as does IDF mod, and people hold them to pretty high regard as well. My biggest priority is getting this thing released, so we can bring on other members to help us continue to support the mod. I hope to be working on this for a very long time. Battlefield: Korea is very close to my heart, and has been so for over a decade now. I am only too happy to be getting so close to our first ever public release.

I have absolutely no problem to wait for a high quality mod since there are a lot of mods which I have been waiting for a long time. However, your mod is probably one of the oldest ones since the production started around 2007 if my memory serves me right.

Also, if you really want to release it then its good because expect those Iron Sights everything else is perfect and other Iron Sights are definitely great. And good luck with the release!

What!? Then your mod is one of the first together with the Project Reality and Allied Intend. Even the Allied Intent Xtended was in production after the original AI mod, which was released way back in 2005 and I fully understand why you want to release your mod as soon as its possible since your mod is in production for over 10 years and that's a lot of time.

Yes, it is true. We used to have forums before we ever used moddb, but those were shut down sometime in late 2009 or 2010. Like I said, the original developers started the mod in 2005, created a moddb page in 2007 and got top 100 moddb mod of the year 2nd place for best upcoming BF2 mod, and then unfortunately was abandoned by 2009 due to nobody wanting to help us finish the mod.

I am not the original mod founder, I am only thier biggest fan turned Beta Tester/Public Relations guy, who eventually became the mod leader. That honor goes to twin brothers from Germany, Zefan and SeRig who originally founded the mod. I wasn't even a modder before I took over the reigns. April 2016 nadvgia a member in the BF2 modding community(now fellow BFK modder), noticed I had uploaded dogfighting videos from an older unreleased beta I took part of in 2008. He liked what he saw, and convinced me to contact Zefan, and request me to take over the mod, and the moddb profile. He agreed, and after almost 8 months, here we are now.

Anyways, we were a part of the BSS, or Black Sand Studios, a super tight knit modding group for BF2 where developers share content and help each other out. So in 2009, when we abandoned the mod, our stuff was donated to other BSS mods, to be used in them. The biggest mod that uses our content is Project Reality, PR:Vietnam, and PR:WW2 especially. They animated our weapons, retextured them in many cases, and also gave amazing sounds. If it weren't for PR using well over 20 of our weapons in various parts of the mod, we wouldn't have nice 3D sights on 99% of our weapons.

However IDF mod uses quite a few things from our mod, and they will be using a lot more in their upcoming update, which is going to ROCK! We owe IDF a LOT of credit! They have been actively helping us out with issues and helping us fix a few things here and there.

Also, EOD2 and BGF mods can't be left out either. They both were also part of BSS mod group, and so we use a lot from both of those mods as well.

FH2 pacific minimod helped us out as well, so a huge shout-out goes to them for their contributions.

Thanks for that info I don't know that.

Yes, I know about the Black Sand Studios since a lot of modders from that era was making PR, FH2 (I think), IDF, EOD2 and also the BFG and so on.

It definitely will from what I saw.

BGF is a great mod, but I hate the fact that it's no longer in development. Also, there is a Bf1942 version and back when Filefront was online I had played some demo from the Vietnam version which was also very good. Unfortunately, unfinished, but I think that on Nexusmods there are most of the files which are needed for it.

FH2 is also a legendary mod so its great that you have some stuff from them as well.

Doesn't the Type 96 have a 30 round magazine? Unless you meant the twenty rounds were only for the BAR. Also, no M1919A6 then?

Hey sorry for late reply, only now just checking older new posts.

Yes you are right, I was mistakenly thinking it had the same capacity as our Zbvz.26 which is a similar looking gun and had a 20 round magazine. But our Bren and the Type 99 both have 30 round magazines.

Also, we plan on having the M1919a6 if we can get it properly animated, but for the Communist they have an RPD we will give them when the 30 cal is finished.
