XMas1918 Version 2008
Dec 3, 2012 Full Version 1 comment2008 version of the popular Xmas1918 mini-mod for BF1918 (full version required!) It includes severeal modified and all new winter maps Mont(CQ/CTF) Snowland...
The total conversion modification Battlefield 1918 (or BF1918 for short) takes Battlefield 1942 into a whole new scenario, the first world war. Next to historically correct equipments and vehicles, we recreated the atmosphere of these WW1 battlefields as close as we can, keeping in mind the game we are working with. To achieve this, we have drastically changed the gameplay from the original game like so that you must now rely on teamwork, artillery, trenches and slow vehicles.
Battlefield 1918 combines fun with historical correctness, gaming with history, the memory of one of the most terrifying wars mankind has ever known, with fun had by people over the internet. Next to the battles fought on the Western front between mostly the Germans, the British and the French, wealso cover other scenarios, such as the Turkish battlefields at Gallipoli, the Eastern front where Germany and Austria-Hungaria fought against Russia, the Italian front and lately the battles in Africa. Next to land- and airbattles using historic weapons and vehicles, we also included the naval aspect of WW1 in a broad spectrum, as this was the time in which the great battleships still were the absolute rulers of the seas. This mod focus on Multiplayer, but has also Singleplayersupport.
For a lot more detailed overview we're very proud to gratefully present a work of our former member Fritz_Kempf aka Sniper-Snoop who has put countless hours of efforts into a very detailed and informative wiki entry at forumeerstewereldoorlog.nl which contains a lot of additional informations about this modification and it's content. We recommend it very much to anybody who not only wants to know something about the mod itself but also it's historical background - though it's written in Dutch the linked translator will give you the possibilty to gain all of the knowledge included. Please note that it's currently in a pre 3.1 state as our former member sadly had to retire from developing due to a lack of time.

Good god, how long has it been? You've been counting of course and it's been exactly 366 days (mind the leap year, folks) since our last news. Hooray! Hooray? No, in fact it's no good news and making fun of it is making it even worse. For our hearts as well as for our souls and to prevent any winter depressions we've got a cool (Get it? Cool!? Classical one) hint for all of you in the middle of this text. So read carefully like your teacher has always told you.
First we would like to draw your attention on a news that has been published by EA itself 3 weeks ago. Most shoud know it by now but as telecommunication in our favorite time of history was still in its infancy the field messenger took longer than usual to inform us about this case:
As there's always a hook with things which are available for free, EA is offering a free one with this free version, too. At least it is free and free sounds good, right? But owners of the retail game, oldschool with discs, manual installation and all this crazy physical stuff are technically curtained off of the fresh meat delivered by Origin. Every party on it's own so to say. On a side note modifications like (I'm taking a random mod here as an example to show that we're not biased in any form) Battlefield 1918 for example are not guaranteed to run with the Origin version of BF42 but it has been reported that there shouldn't be any special issues. Just choose the mod folder in BF42's directory to put a mod's files there and it should run fine. Soldiers, if you've always sought refuge in complaining that you do not own the base game you're now no longer relieved from duty.
Now up to the really cool stuff I've promised you in the beginning. Some of you of course already know this little gem in the history of BF1918 gimmicks but some people could also be new to our business. Romantic snow sceneries have always warmed our hearts in the festive month and have brought fun and joy to the battlefield since 2006. It's even rumored that this mini-mod has brought peace on earth 2 times, cooled down the climate warming and caused the Christmas truce. So take part in a nice Slay-ride, snowball fights with your friends and foes and try to meet Santa coming to town, checking who was nauthy and nice. Get the latest version from 2008 and put it on top of your already installed BF1918 experience to sweeten up your Christmas Season.
The last topic for today's news and most probably for this year from our side is a bit sad indeed. We're celebrating our first anniversary of "No News" as we've been successfully able to manage to not publish any news in the last 366 days. And there are in fact no big news to spread from our side as the modification is considered finished from a dev-team's point of view. We're peeking into the commentary section from time to time so feel free to post any issues or remarks in your personal relationship with BF1918.

The end of the year is as usual the time for the mighty Mod Of The Year award voted by you, the plebs! We're not exspecting anything less than several homages and canonizations but for the beginning you can start with clicking on the little vote-button above and see what color it will change to. Isn't it exciting?

Can someone fix the problem with Vitry_Classic map. When I play it via Multiplayer as COOP or Conquest there are all objects like bunkers, church, bridge etc. BUT when I play it in SP there aren't any object on map. Just clear space?
Does someone have a real historical order of Single-Player maps (battles)?
I play campaign and so far I made this list in CampaignMapList.con in game.rfa:

Nice list! :)
Its sad that Bf1918 ended. =( I used to love to play as my own country, Turkey. (ah, and also all other nations) This mod was my reason to buy Bf42, also this mod pulled me into the Gaming universe. Thanks for making me live the moment, and all your efforts have been really appreciated. =)
Will you guys move on to BF2?
Several attempts were made in the past but due to problems with the different and more complex engine the development was cancelled. The last mod which tried to bring WW1 to BF2 was named No Man's Land but remained unreleased, the old BF1918 team published a small test mod years ago called the Air Show only with WW1 planes.
Much better than the Histroy channel :):):)

anyone know of the name of the loading music?
I have the game fully patched with both expansions and the original game runs without any CTD problems.
The game crashes with no errors only when a battle loads, only in mods.As I said, now I am able to play 3 battles, for example, but when the 4th loads it crashes.
I have a different game folder for each mod,so that they don't affect each other. It is normal to have CTDs in large scale modifications and I think everyone faces them in this kind of mods,in any game.
As for the bots,I understand what you're talking about and the game is actually old.You have reduced capabilities to improve the game any further.
There is really no problem now,so thank you for your interest.
