100 years since the beginning of the First World War.

This week marks 100 years since the beginning of one of the bloodiest wars of mankind - First World War.

July 28, 1914, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. Russia begins mobilization in response to this threat. By 4 August major European countries are involved in the war - France, Britain and Russia on one side, Germany and Austria-Hungary on the other.

Great War led to enormous losses - more than 10 million soldiers and millions of civilians were killed. It led to the collapse of the Ottoman, German, Russian and Austro-Hungarian Empire, and to a complete change in the political map of the world, but did not solve most of the conflicts, which eventually led to the bloodiest war of mankind - World War II.

Unfortunately, despite the enormous historical importance, the First World remains little-known today. The team of our project "Battle of Empires 1914-1918" wants to change this situation and to remind everyone of the terrible events of those days.

Yay....free mod turned into a so-called "game". This isnt even its own game, it's a mod for Men of War that you want money for. You shouldn't charge money for a mod. Hell, look at the MISERY mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat, it is like the no.17 mod on moddb and it is basically a brand new game. Did they charge money for it? No. But they are making a brand new game based on the mod. That is what this mod should have done.

Also, remove this mod from the mods page if it isn't even a mod anymore so you don't deceive people who are looking for FREE mods.

oh, stop it you ;3

Why don't you just let them earn some damn money for something you-have-no-bloody-idea how much time they spent on and be a damn happy player to an upcoming great community of Battle of Empires game.

'It costs soooo much, herp, oh hell, it's propably the most expensive thing i ever bought, derp. Don't be a kiddo.'

It is not the fact that it 'costs so much' [sic], it is the fact that we, the public, need to pay for a 'game' that is in actual fact a mod. And the fact that it is still published on a mod website is even more deceiving.
There are plenty free mods which people have spent a long time on, but they released it free, because they care more about their 'community' than they do about money. It is not the amount of money, it is the principle. If they really loved what they were doing and cared not for the monetary reward they would reap from making this a game they would have kept it free for the public. To me (and many others I am sure) this is just a sell-out. And it saddens me to say that.

Developers will surely move this page to games sections after the game will be released. Moddb is not only about mods, my friend. As you propably know, many developers create pages of games that haven't beed released yet, and even for those that cannot be modded.
Principle is that a very low number of modders get a proposal for cooperation with the developers of the game they are modding. Another principle is there is a very low number of modders, who do refuse it.
Battle of Empires took a lot of time to be completed, propably a lot more than any other mod you are thinking of.
You obviously don't understand and don't want to understand that Battle of Empires is a great chance for volchonok and the rest of the team to have a smooth start in game developing companies, that I'm sure will look forward to cooperate with them.
And for that I'm going to pay for Battle of Empires. And I'll be happy to do that, when the game comes out.

I do not agree with your opinion, but I will defend your right to have one with my life, as I would do mine.
However the simple fact of the matter (of which you have plainly chosen to ignore), is that this so-called game is actually classed as a "Men of War mod ", this cannot possibly be true if it is in actual fact a game. And therefore it should be removed forthwith as a 'mod' and moved to the 'games' pages as not to allure those who are looking for genuine mods. This is not a matter of time spent on the mod, or what smooth starts it gives to whoever is in charge of this shambles, It is a matter of this 'game' being shown as a free mod when in actual fact it is a game that purchased by the user. That is misleading and, in my opinion, wrong.
Also can I pick up on something you have said, and I quote "Battle of Empires took a lot of time to be completed, [probably] a lot more than any other mod you are thinking of." How could you possibly know how much time is spent on this particular mod and why this particular mod would demand more time or effort than other mods? Surely this was meant in jest was it not?
Also this mod is not, nor ever has been actually 'completed' (as you have said it took a lot of time to do). So can I advice you think about what you are going say before you textualize as not to seem whimsical.
Good Day.

As for mod/game matter, I did wrote in my last post that Battle of Empires will propably be moved to games section. I agree it is now misleading. As I am not a member of the Battle of Empires team and I don't know anyone in this particular team personally, I believe the developers have no time for moving BoE to right place, as they are busy polishing it. I find it strongly possible, because I've been tracking this mod since I created an account here, on moddb, and never lack of updates was caused by anything else than lack of time, believe me, I read a lot on BoE page here and even in russian in cnews forum. Here comes the next matter you decided to discuss. I did now my homework and I want to point out that I've remember this mod since the day I made an account here, in 2009, and I strongly believe I know, how long does it take to make a total modification (which, in some cases, luckily, turns into fullgame). And I believe BoE is one of them.
Third matter, status of BoE is that almost everything is completed, and the developers are not adding anything new, but just testing it, or replacing with something better.
And yes, I do find BoE special, I love history of WWI and I find lack of games in this particular period of XX century warfare and XIX century tactics very sad. And I'd pay any price to see it.
I hope this comment clearly represents my statement.

I agree, this is deceiving. A wannabe 'full game' which is actually a mod in disguise is no place for a 'free mod page'.

So now when you have made this into a game we have to pay for, why don't you remove it from the mods list, so it does not deceive people by thinking they would get it for free when actually they will have to pay for this...

Q: Will this game be available in parts? How many armies will be in ‘Battle of Empires: 1914-1918’? What about multiplayer?
The Great War Team is a bunch of enthusiasts who work hard to deliver a unique atmosphere of First World War to the screens of your computers. But current crowdfunding is not enough for them to make everything simultaneously, that’s why we found a compromise – the ‘Battle of Empires: 1914-1918’ will be composed of 3 separate games that will cost accordingly to the percentage of content presented in it.
•‘Battle of Empires: France’ will come first. It will feature full singleplayer, mission editor and LAN cooperative multiplayer. A bit later after the release we will make a free Beta test of multiplayer and cooperative multiplayer through the Internet.

•The second game that will be released later is ‘Battle of Empires: Russian Empire’. It will feature the biggest singleaplayer campaign as well as multiplayer with 3 factions in it.

•The third game - ‘Battle of Empires: Germany’ will feature one singleplayer campaign, bonus missions for different sides of conflict, 2 new multiplayer factions and new multiplayer mode.

Q: But it was a mod – so it should be free!
A: It was a mod for Men of War game 2 years ago. After getting in top100 mods in development of the year on moddb.com, the team decided to make a full commercial project out of the mod. The ‘Great War Team’ asked ‘Best Way’ for help in completing that large goal and they got all the support they needed. During 2 years of development a massive amount of work has been done so that allowed ‘Battle of Empires: 1914-1918’ project to become commercial.
