Busy day here, today. A quick summary of the news before I go into detail: BG 1.2.1 RC1 released to those who wish to test, Battle for Colonies announced, Announcements now open to commenting on and Front End for the announcements on the forum.

Firstly, The Battle Grounds 1.2.1 RC 1 has been release to anyone and everyone willing to test development builds of BG. RC 1 means we are at feature complete stage of 1.2.1 and we are now onto final bug fixing and balancing for 1.2.1. We welcome everyone to join us at tests which will become frequent over the next few days. You can find details about how to get RC1 in this thread - Bgmod.com along with instructions on how to install development builds in general.

I was sent a very interesting pm on the forums yesterday regarding a BFE style campaign for Battle Grounds setup by some BFE players. It is called Battle for the Colonies.
Here is the information I received about the campaign:

In the spirit of Battle For Europe, Ferg, Supreme_Killa, Nameless Soldier, and Proof_of_death of BFE are creating a campaign for Battle Grounds called Battle for the Colonies. For those not familiar with BFE, a campaign is a tournament where you pick one of two teams (British or Colonist in this case) and fight over the course of many battles for control of the colonies. Each team will have their own Commanding officers, their own commander in chief deciding on battles, and their own strategies and organization. It's a great way to bring the whole battle grounds community together to play each other. If you like Battle Grounds but want to play more seriously than it's done on the pubs, then BFC is for you.

Right now, the four are doing this campaign independently, but if you guys show enough interest, BFC will be picked up as an official MFOTS campaign. They are still working on registration, but check out battleforthecolonies.com, head over to the forums and the rules for more information, and stay tuned. Registration and test scrimmages are coming soon.

The final two items aren’t quite as important, but forum regular will appreciate them. Firstly, the announcement forum is now open to replies. This means you can now comment on any and every news item we post their. We want to encourage more feedback from you on the things we think you will find interesting or important that are going on in the world of BG. Finally we have setup a news like display for all announcements on the forums, which takes you directly to the news item you want to respond to. This can be found here - Bgmod.com. This page also contains other useful links, so if you are looking for the latest community news then this page will help you.

We are close to 1.2.1 now bear with us or help us test and we will be there soon.

Thank you.
