Hope you are ready for a lo-ong shift...

Barney's Tales is a total conversion of the original Half-Life Blue Shift add-on. Source Engine, used in mod, will allow us to visit the world of the scary Black Mesa Research Facility once more.
Security officer Barney Calhoun, undecided major, was going on his first shift in a research facility. He put on his uniform, got his Glock-18 in the armory and set out for the Sector 3. Suddenly, Barney felt an explosion and the lift he was going by fell down. Next thing he saw when consciousness returned was a strange alien creature tearing a scientist.
With the personnel and security officers at his side Barney must escape the Black Mesa before it becomes a blazing crater...

The development team is working at some innovations of Barney's Tales:

  • Authentic weapon firing simulation and iron sights aiming system;
  • Close to real models of HECU soldiers – including uniform and gear;
  • Weapon models created according to existing samples;
  • Realistic player camera and footsteps simulation;
  • Vehicles added - player would be able to drive some;
  • Calculation of character’s stock power amount;
  • Lots of tasks involving physics;
  • Improved enemy AI;
  • HDR-lighting;
  • Rather than in the original Blue Shift the storyline is presented in another view;

  • Expanded plot, even new chapters are added;
  • Multiplayer mode.

Greetings, I am Kub. Two days ago I registered here a Half-Life 2 mod called Barney's tales. It is a total remake of Blue Shift add-on. This mod has been developed for already 3 months and I think team has done much. Firstly , I'd love to type some words about website. The present one is only a temporary variant and soon you will be able to see a real Macromedia Flash miracle . Then about the whole project. It is not one-day dream. The team has very great ambitious and won't give up the modification. I think that Batney's Tales has a great potential and may be soon we will be able to compete with Black and Blue Mesas media. I suppose that there will be one media-release each month. Or even more. Yesterday I did not uploaded all images in the gallery - but now there are 9 screens and one render. See them for yourself.

I partially agree with what -(((=ReNeGaDe=))) thought. People love the original blueshift, but hate the physics and graphics. I know people who specifically won't play the game just because of the graphics. That's why people would want the game as it was--just on the source engine. The extra stuff could still be fun, but it should be an add-on or a patch. That way people can play the normal mod, and then the creation from your minds as well whenever they want.

Oh, I thought you would play this game in view of another character. That changes everything, I thought you will be commanding some scientist or something. Good luck guys, and sorry for misunderstanding.

well, i suppose there's some logic to that. blue shift was woefully short. i remember when i bought it when it first came out that i beat it that very evening and wondered why exactly i spent $30 on it.

the high-definition pack was worth the cash though.

(((=ReNeGaDe=))), so why don't you REMAKE it yourself? We just try to expand and bring something new to gameplay, because if just REMAKE Blue Shift it would be rather boring to play, too oldschool: games are even not developing in a such way nowadays, like they were in the end of 90-s. As for presenting story in another view... Don't worry, you'll be playing teh same Barney Calhoun.

This mod idea is stupid. If you are going to remake Blue Shift you DON'T add new chapters and you DON'T present it in another view, you just remake it!

Wow. This reminds me of Black Mesa: Source... A lot. Just Blueshift. You guys should do Opposing Force too.
