Barney's Tales is a total conversion of the original Half-Life Blue Shift add-on. Source Engine, used in mod, will allow us to visit the world of the scary Black Mesa Research Facility once more.
Security officer Barney Calhoun, undecided major, was going on his first shift in a research facility. He put on his uniform, got his Glock-18 in the armory and set out for the Sector 3. Suddenly, Barney felt an explosion and the lift he was going by fell down. Next thing he saw when consciousness returned was a strange alien creature tearing a scientist.
With the personnel and security officers at his side Barney must escape the Black Mesa before it becomes a blazing crater...
The development team is working at some innovations of Barney's Tales:
- Authentic weapon firing simulation and iron sights aiming system;
- Close to real models of HECU soldiers – including uniform and gear;
- Weapon models created according to existing samples;
- Realistic player camera and footsteps simulation;
- Vehicles added - player would be able to drive some;
- Calculation of character’s stock power amount;
- Lots of tasks involving physics;
- Improved enemy AI;
- HDR-lighting;
- Rather than in the original Blue Shift the storyline is presented in another view;
- Expanded plot, even new chapters are added;
- Multiplayer mode.

Greetings, I am Kub. Two days ago I registered here a Half-Life 2 mod called Barney's tales. It is a total remake of Blue Shift add-on. This mod has been developed for already 3 months and I think team has done much. Firstly , I'd love to type some words about website. The present one is only a temporary variant and soon you will be able to see a real Macromedia Flash miracle . Then about the whole project. It is not one-day dream. The team has very great ambitious and won't give up the modification. I think that Batney's Tales has a great potential and may be soon we will be able to compete with Black and Blue Mesas media. I suppose that there will be one media-release each month. Or even more. Yesterday I did not uploaded all images in the gallery - but now there are 9 screens and one render. See them for yourself.
Team. We are from Russia But don't have any name. Yet.

I made this because some people were debating:
So let's break it down into my opions:
Graphics based on the Pictures: Blue Shift wins on this one.
Graphics based on the video: Well, Blue Shift doesn't have a video so this one goes to BMS.
Graphics I think will be overall: Black Mesa. I have reasons but I can't figure out how to word them so it will make sense to everyone else.
Updates on Moddb: Blue Shift.
Updates on their Website: I HAVE TO give this one to BMS because, although they only updated a few times on their website, BSS doesn't appear to have one anymore. Or it's down, one of the two.
Updates overall: Definently Blue Shift.
NOTE: This catagory has nothing to do with the gameplay of the games I just wanted to do that in here too.
How much gameplay: BMS, it's a redone Half-Life, It'll have a lot of gameplay.
funness (LOL) of the gameplay: Well I really have to say it could go either way here. I will just go off of previous game experience soooo: BMS gets this one. BUT thats just going off of the originals it could completely turn.
Gameplay Overall: Gonna give it to BMS.
In-game Music: Note that this is just the next catagory in my mind, but I would have to say BMS as I don't know if BSS has any. But go to the BMS website and check some out but stay here as well.
The one I want more: BMS, Sorry BSS but I love Half Life and while BS was good, I still and looking forward to it more. BUT I still want this one. Don't give up on it! PLEASE!
I will add to this if I think, or someone else thinks of a new catagory. I did not make this to sway people away to any other game or any other mod.

i think that the reason that people are asking if its dead is that a lot of mods that stay alive are updated every month. that of course does not mean you have to, its just what people are used to (even me)

Since you see Barney and hear him talk in HL2 and not in the original Blue shift,
why not get a voice actor for Barney and have some mirrors in the game allowing you to see him.
Further more, what do you mean "presented in another view" sounds more like
a Blue shift side story to me instead of a remake of the original.
any1 else haveing trouble getting on the site? i cant even get to the part that says "coming soon" and "forum" . I dont know if its just my computer or what

Nah, why do you guys ask every week: "is the mod dead?" :) No, we're still alive and now working hard on new media.
