BANZAI! is a modification for the game Unreal Tournament 2004.
It aims to be a simple, fun and easy to play game while bringing back the good old fashioned ’side-scroller’ gameplay. Inspired by many different side-scrolling games of old such as Castlevania, Contra, Ninja Gaiden, and Megaman, BANZAI! is a hail back to the old glorious days of 8-bit and 16-bit gaming.
This however does not mean we are limiting the game to the "old school" looks. Our team works hard at creating something that's not only fun to play but also pleasing to the eye.
If you like sidescroller platform games, anime-ish looks (and perhaps even a few puzzle elements ;) )
Then this mod might be something to try out.

Hi, as you can see, not alot has happened here. That's because we've lost contact with our leader and programmer Jaytwitch, so right now where in a bit of a perill, we need a programmer, so if your good at programming in UT2004, then feel free to aid us here: Brokenjoypad.com

haha yeah.. the team is currently undergoing a small shake down of itself.. re-evaluating its position... The team are definitely alive and the mod has no plans to die and roll over nor will the team let it.
its just Jaytwitch tends to be away almost indefinitely making any real progress incredibly difficult to achieve, nay impossible..
Mapping is made tens of times harder, as JT is not only the leader, but also the only coder for Banzai too. So if a map requires climbable surfaces, and the mapper is without a coder to supply the source code for that action it means the maps cant be tested as they are made, doing it this way means that all the bugs can be ironed out or removed as the map is built, resulting in better experience for us the players. rather than making an entire map and suddenly realising that large portions of the map are now irrelevant and need removing, resulting in more unnecessary time spent removing and remaking parts of the maps, these parts may only be small but it adds up in the end.
Without the leader the team has no real power to decide on what is done or not done, as JT may come back and disallow or discontinue work that has gone on that he doesn’t approve of.. resulting in more unnecessary spent time.
Also, without knowing whether something will be implemented means that the Modeller cant or wont know what animations the models are needed to have.. i.e. the climbable surface, it would look weird nay ridiculous if the character ran up the wall defying gravity like sonic still holding the gun in both hands, it needs to look like its climbing, however without any conformation, advances here are again cut drastically short.
The only area that isn’t truly effected is the concept art... However if the leader isn’t present to regulate the ideas being generated then it gets out of hand quite quickly, and its important that the concept artist gets feed back on what he/she has created, if you made a mad load of detailed concepts then the leader comes back and says "hmm its not really what im after"...
then you’d be a little upset nay devastated, at all you have just done for nothing. also the modeller again without any conformation from the Leader will not know, what, out of all the ideas generated needs taking into 3D and modelled and what doesn't..
