Hi all, I really like this mod, looking forward to 0.2c. Finally with this mod GTA:Vice City will become the world's first enjoyable and accurate-to-the-movies BTTF game, not like those BTTF NES games.

I have an idea about what could be added:
Could it be possible that, you could switch between two point of views for time travel?
The first one could be the one that's already in the mod (car disappears, leaves fire trails, then change to new time and it reappears).
And the second one could be, that you accelerate up to 88 MPH, exposion, flash of blue light, and you are instantly in the new time, like in BTTF1, when Marty goes from 1985 to 1955 and arrives at the Peabody Farm.

yep. I was thinking about it, but i'd like to get the bugs out of the current system first before attempting this. The only problem is how to control which pov you want.

You could set it to a numeric key, like the ground/hover mode switch in the BTTF2 Delorean.

umm, no, that was the key for turrets. i am limited to using the keys that gta uses. Since the delorean never used turret left/right, i used those, which if you look in your controls (if it's not changed), should be numpad4/5

That's true, but what about other numeric keys like NUM 6 or NUM 9, the Delorean only uses those in flying mode. You could set what kind of POV you want in ground mode, then switch to flying if you want to, and use them normally in flight, but I don't know if it's possible or not.

the other thing i could do is shoot+turret left/right to change pov.

if this could be done it would be insane

Jul 29 2007, 1:36pm Anchor

oh man that would be awesome to see! instant time travel and not the fade out and in stuff. please god let this be possible! :)

Jul 29 2007, 2:18pm Anchor

Yeah, like I made in my vids, the current frame fades out with the next one in behind. Kinda makes it feel like the time changes fast.

try changing K.I.T.T.'s handeling to the deloreans instant time travel

Jul 29 2007, 3:23pm Anchor

The instant time travel that is being discussed is the lag time, because of the camera pan out and then cut scene, not the actual car speed.

Jul 29 2007, 4:12pm Anchor

Oh yeah, it's possible. I did it already. It's just that......kinda hard to integrate at the moment to the rest of the code. Compared to all this cinematic stuff, it's real easy to do this, because you don't have to worry about anything except the blue flash and changing the time, instead of fire trails, a couple explosions, fading in and out, etc. Actually, thinking about this gives a problem once hill valley comes around. There will be a lag when all the models of buildings change, and they will flicker for a split second, or delay in appearing, depending on your computer.

i saw a video on utube it mustev been an old time travel mod where the delorean was at the airport and it sped up to 88mph and the time travel animation was that the areas around the car blured and then in a second it stoped and it was in the new time era.

maybe if u could do it that way but change the blur color or something?

Jul 30 2007, 3:08pm Anchor

Chevron, I respect people, but if you didn't get the answer, don't bother asking your question again.

Jul 30 2007, 3:20pm Anchor

far out im only making a suggestion on it i know the answer but i thought it was still worth suggesting....and after this i wont bother you guys take suggestions as if people are demanding you to implement them.

That video is only an old DeLorean model and a blur effect added in a video-editing software. Just a "fake"...
