Just a poll. How long should gas last?

Right now, it's several hours. I'm thinking of 1. Or maybe half. What are your thoughts?

Aug 5 2007, 1:41pm Anchor

Maybe 45 minutes? An hour seems like it might be too long, but it would be kind of annoying having to refill every half hour.

Aug 5 2007, 1:42pm Anchor

Oh yeah, to clarify, this is only if you're pressing the gas. What about when the engine is idleing? How long for that?

Aug 5 2007, 1:44pm Anchor

maby idiling will only take up half the fule that hiting the gas will

Aug 5 2007, 1:44pm Anchor

i think half an hour would be good, as it forces you to take fuel into consideration more seriously

Aug 5 2007, 1:45pm Anchor

1. Engine Idle, two hours.
2. on the gas, one hour.

Damn, wish we had polls. Ok, new rule. Just add a time, or add 1 to whatever you want. You may only edit this list only once.

I can see that list becoming about four pages long with all the opinions here. lol

I'm still firmly in the "scrap the fuel feature" camp, but since thats appears to not be an option, I think it needs to be shorter. I'll say 30 minutes. Anything substantially longer than that and it becomes a complete non-factor (more so than it already is).

The keep the fuel feature camp is unfortunately larger

ok, then what about when the car's idling?

gas: 30 min. idle: 1 hour

makes it so we have to pay attention to it more. also, 30 min with gas is still long. if you use the same delorean for so long, you should have plenty of time to go refill it.

people should keep in mind the very high chance that when you get the car it may be low on gas.

having said that, ill say 0:45 gas and 1:30 idle

"people should keep in mind the very high chance that when you get the car it may be low on gas."

Not to keep beating the dead horse, but even in a car with a low gas, the feature is still practically a non-factor in every way. I mean, on a full tank, what are the chances that people are going to be driving for 30-45 minutes straight and not have a chance to pull into a gas station? Then say you take a car that is so low gas, you can't make it to a gas station. How hard is it just to take another car? ... Which leads me to another question of, 'Why would Marty be stealing cars?', but thats another topic completely.

[/end rant]

I guess it makes more fun. Just imagine. Running away from cops, nearly time travelled... When! The fuel ends. The car is dead. You have to find another one. Besides I'm sure there'll be more gas station around the town.

P.S. My idle version is winning! Hurray!

"I guess it makes more fun. Just imagine. Running away from cops, nearly time travelled... When! The fuel ends. The car is dead. You have to find another one. Besides I'm sure there'll be more gas station around the town."

Theres only 2 ways that can happen. 1. You are incredibly careless or just deeply deeply stupid and don't understand the "Fuel" gauge on the left of the screen. Or 2. You WANT it to happen and force it by creating that scenario.

Thats my whole gripe with it. It doesn't add anything to the game outside of giving you an extra chore to do while not on a mission.

You're too gloomy. Learn to have fun, for crying out loud.

Aug 6 2007, 2:07am Anchor

Like I said before some people want that to happen because it gives more options in story and realism. Like in the first movie the starter stalled on Marty and he was forced to hide it and walk the rest of the way. Some people want to live it since it was that same sort of sceniro in the movie and people love that movie. I do agree the time it takes to run out of gas should be shortened. Some people just want to have other options to mess with because it adds more story to their game. And possibility more fun. But that's my opinion.

not to sound like a jerk but spykes1984 you really gotta let this go. it's the modders decision to keep this or not. what's the big deal to have gas in the car? what do u think cars run on, hopes and dreams? (F&F pun intended) just let it go and play the game.

My Vote is for 45 min. for gas and 1:15 for idle.

Aug 6 2007, 2:38am Anchor

As much as I like the thought of being munsoned out in the middle of nowhere with no fuel. I have to agree with spykes1984. It's not hard enough to run out. If you vehicle runs out of gas, grab another and so on. There really is no inconvinence to running out. The only way I can see this as a nice feature, is if one of your weapons is a gas can. So you can make a run to the gas station come back and fill you car up. Don't even know if this would be possible.

Aug 6 2007, 2:44am Anchor

If you had a gas can to refill then the fuel feature would be pointless then. I can't see them putting a gas can in the inventory it would be like there is no fuel feature if you can just go to the back and refill it just like that. The whole point of the fuel feature was so you could get yourself stuck when you are time traveling.
