Back to the Future: Hill Valley is a full conversion mod for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Back to the Future: Hill Valley will be based on the Back to the Future Trilogy, allowing the player to re-enact all the great moments from the films. While some parts of the story are stretched to make it more enjoyable, we are determined not to stray too far from the original story-line. You know, I think a TRUE fan won't bother about legs not moving. As about running away... I dunno if it's possible, but once I fell off the bike, and it just stood up and gone away. For calling your horse, it could be like KITT's code.

another idea. for those bits where doc and marty are chasing the train just show the top of the horse and not the legs so it looks like the legs really are moving and for gameplay bits just leave the horses out

Well as for keeping her busy I guess she'd have to be catching her breath after the long run to the train. That's about all I can think of.

Protonkid, I don't think it's the legs not moving that's the real problem. I personally don't care if they move or not. You've got the sound to worry about, I'm not sure your gonna want a horse to sound like it's gearing up like a car when it starts moving. There's also how the person sits on the horse, if we're going to replace the bikes the people sit differently on each bike.
The calling code from KITT is a good idea and I'm not sure about running away either

I do, they're other ways of looking at the complex problems we're facing with the mod. Showing the bits and pieces of the horses is probably a much better alternative rather than having Doc and Marty run all over the place. Besides the horses won't really be a big deal once you complete the game and get the Delorean's again.

I see problems arising from the train sequence. Don't forget how crappy the physics are when there's a thing on top of a moving thing, which SA would have been perfect for.
For horses, I'd say just use them for cutscenes. The sound problems are too complicated. To give a few examples:
-car ignition sound each time you get in (don't know about bikes)
-gearing up clip clops would sound weird
-idle sound will either a) clip clop even when stopped or b) not make a sound if the player is slowing down
-tire's squeal
I'd say leave 1885 hill valley for walking. You don't see many citizens using horses anyway.

i just listed them. There is no problem getting a horse model into the game. Sounds and animation will be the only things messed up.

As for the train sequence, I have to experiment with the train in LC.

Ermmm, I'd prefer to use those to roam around hill valleys. All except 1985a, I'm afraid some goons have destroyed the rails. Remember Liberty, press enter, then roam around! I'd like that :\

actually the steam car idea isnt a bad one. the first steam car was invented in 1672.

and the first productions car (made by daimler,powered by a 1 horsepower internal combustion engine, called the Benz Patent Motorwagen. it was featured in gran turismo 4) was introduced in 1885 and started production in 1886. we maybe could do one of those things where as marty "invented" the skateboard, doc could be the accidental inventor of the car. Gottlieb Daimler could steal it off him.

shouldn't be too hard to model. im sure you could handle it K1092000.

as for the bicycle idea vc doesnt have a bicycle animation.
