i glad that your keeping treads as the final upgrade. treads just seem a better thing than hover engines. if a hover engine breaks, than its just a bunker till you can get it back to the repair shop. if a tread breaks, than at least you can repair it in the field and keep moving forward.

love it! One question: would it be possible to make the t1bs also function as an APC? APC like units seem like they would function well in EAW style ground combat.

I've thought about this before, and it is a good mechanic. However, the problem comes from the AI not using this ability smartly. Currently they stock troops in LAATs, but then fly them in and rarely deploy them before the unit is destroyed. You would end up seeing a bunch of tanks carrying infantry that might not ever get used. If i can fix up the AI I will put in APC abilities for some tanks.

Description

This is one of the coolest examples of how we intend to show a growing Rebellion. Through small details in the Rebel tank progression we can begin to see how the Rebellion slowly improves their technology.

From right to left:
Basic T1B - A basic hovertank used to combat infantry. We have taken away the AA missiles for the basic level to keep it in the realm of a fragile hit and run speeder. One of the first produced for the Rebellion.

Upgraded T1B - The previous hovertank with the readded missile tubes. This variant is the Alliance's answer to the increasing threat of Imperial Tie Fighter strafing runs. Having this be the upgraded variant shows the Rebel Alliance modifying their existing equipment to counter increasing Imperial threats.

T3B Hovertank - As mentioned previously, the basic T3B Tank is going to be a Hovertank. After hearing the community feedback on the treaded T3B topic, Sly and I discussed it in further detail. We still feel that having this as the beginning unit reinforces that the Rebellion is modifying speeders into tanks, and it shows a natural progression from T1B to T3B.

T3B BattleTank - By adding armored treads to their existing hovertank equipment, the Rebellion can now create more powerful and rugged tanks for much cheaper. The Treaded T3B takes the place of the previous upgraded T3B to bridge the gap between later tanks such as the T4B and MPTL.
