Project "Savior" is a mod designated to increase the lifespan of AvP2 internet multiplayer games, by providing an alternate master server. The aim is also to keep the user experience the same. It will basically allow players to find and join online AvP2 multiplayer servers. What happens next is up to the players' skills.

What happens when a strong headed community is faced with a problem such as getting the list of servers for their favourite game?
You get the master server patch:

Reaching version 1.5.1, the following features must be noted:

  • server list retrieved from Gamespy: this means AvP2 will be playable online for as long as Gamespy exists.
  • game servers running version 1.3 or higher do not have to update!
  • fixed the punkbuster-like player ID algorithm. This means (for server administrators) that is somebody ticks you off, you can ban him from that server.

So, get it while it's hot, and I hope I'll see you online!

The master server patch, final version. Object.lto is now residing in its own .rez file, lithserv.rez. This improves or even completely removes crashes...

Hey Herr,

I'm having the same problem as FL_Freak is, when I click the "Find Internet Games" button it takes me to the proper screen, but the game just stops responding and searches forever and doesn't find anything. Also, I notice the 'Find by IP address' is white and so is the 'Searching for Internet games...' text so I assume this means the game simply froze up there (sound continues however)

I'm currently using AVP2 with the 1.2.2 patch (used the 1.2.3 first, same thing so tried the downgrading trick you mentioned, no luck D:) and it also does the same thing with my laptop, gets to the Find Screen then searches forever and the game stops responding.

Any thoughts on what to do to get it working?? Sorry for the long post but i wanted to be comprehensive ;) I'll pass this link on to a friend of mine who lives elsewhere, and see if he can find games... if so it's just my local computers/network having the problem!

Any help you can provide would be great, and really awesome to see you and yours are working so hard on AVP2 mods like this one! :D

(Hope this works, I'd hate to go back to trying to get hamachi to work with AVP2! That's no luck so far either!)

Thanks in advance!

Based on what I found it seems AVG antivirus was causing the game to crash while looking for servers. I completely eradicated AVG, then managed to find servers online. Success!

Now the catch:

During the course of trying to get at least one mod version to work (tried em all) I don't know entirely which one worked. I believe 1.2.3 only had like 2 servers, and maybe it was 1.2.2 that had a bunch? Sorry but dunno for sure. Hope this helps anyone else out there trying to get on

Mine kept hanging when looking for servers, so I did CTRL-ALT-DEL, ran Task Manager and started closing processes to see if one was causing the prob. Soon as I closed "avgemc.exe" the game sprung into life and found servers. As chaotic_sol said, it's part of the free AVG installation, but the game isn't crashing, just hanging, so just you don't have to uninstall AVG, just close that process and you can continue.

Sorry. It's "avgnsx.exe", which seems to be AVG's net scanner. Comes back almost as soon as you kill the process, but seems enough time for server list to appear, then you can connect to a game.

Well, 1.2.3 was added to handle the crashes some of the people had with 1.2.2. So, the right way would be to install 1.2.2, and if it crashes, then go for 1.2.3.

check the size of the ms_client.dll file. If it's about 18-19 KB, you're still running v1.2.3. If it's about 15KB, then you are indeed running v1.2.2.

If the dll is 19KB, then you need to download and install the full v1.2.2, available here:
