Time to start the wandering, stalker...

Autumn Aurora 2 has been released!

The second version of the Autumn Aurora brings the autumnal atmosphere to the Zone and totally overhauls the graphics, sound and gameplay of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl. The mod is built on the newest Zone Reclamation Project's core, it contains official AtmosFear for ShoC which has never been released before. AtmosFear has been extensively redesigned to match the autumn style.
It also holds an official new Absolute Nature for ShoC (never released as standalone as well) with new tree models from AN3 CoP and some new ones.

It is the perfect opportunity for every S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fan to immerse again into Chernobyl universe in completely different style this time.

The Zone calls again...

I cannot lower my Lighting/Shadow settings. They always, and I mean always revert. I went to aa2.script. I see nothing there regarding shadows?

It's r2_ls_squality command. Comment or change it in aa2.script

That seems to only work on shadows. Lighting Distance is still max when I start the game up. I put it on 0.3 from 1.0 in aa2.script. What you listed there.

I have another question. What can I do to improve FPS? I disabled SweetFX entirely, no ENB. Just Shaders. I turned off Motion Blur, DOF, SSAO, Sun Shafts. Seriously, how am I getting drips into FPS Of 40 at times?

I'm on a Geforce GTX 750Ti 2GB, 16GB Ram, AMD FX-8320E 8 Cores @ 3.1GHz. And still.. This?

I know this i a late reply but i think is you videocard. It is a low end card with only 2 gb of ram. The game with mods eats ram for breakafast because of higher res textures. That sistem of yours is not very well balanced. It needs a better card. If you can test the game with a better card and see how it goes.

What's wrong with 40 FPS? It's almost twice as much as your eyes can notice.

The average human brain can receive about 1000fps but the human eye can only register up to 150fps with both eyes combined. It is a common myth that the human eye can only see 30-60fps. Although, certain people just can't stand lower fps and some can.

I'm gonna hope you're joking. Because anything under 60 fps is sluggish. Your eyes cannot visibly see more than 60, 2 frames under 60 and I *immediately* notice it.

40 is 10 from 30, 30 is console-tier. I didn't spent like 800€ on an upgrade so I play games from 2007 with shaders from 2009 at 40 fps.

So can I improve the FPS somehow? Is there something I'm missing?

Indeed, there are differences under 60 fps but not above.

Go into gamedata/levels and type into search field "level.details". Remove all search results (all level.details files). Should help.

What are you talking about? Human eye can perceive up to 25-30 FPS. Anything above that is a smooth movement.

It must be a torture for you to watch TV as it is only 25FPS :D

But humans have 2 eyes. That means you're able to perceive between 50 and 60 FPS

Dude, I honestly cannot belive you are serious. The difference between and 30 is huge.

30vs60.com Use several games to compare here, if you can't see the difference. Your browser sucks, or maybe your eyes do.

Ok, I can see the difference but TBH, I could play 30FPS without a problem. It doesn't hurt my eyes and the movement is smooth enough. Maybe I'm just a slow kid :D

Anyway 25 FPS for TV is a fact. Is the movement smooth? It is.

Big_Guy, haha, it's not per eye :)

You really thought that all the extended geometry like hi-res trees and extra foliage won't contribute in FPS drop? Delete 'gamedata\levels' directory and enjoy vanilla trees with FPS boost.

I can agree with Cromm in this aspect - I've played in the Witcher 3 with blocked 30 fps and I had no any problems with game feeling. :) BUT of course, there is a difference between 30 and 60 fps, sure.

you are devs, you can´t be serious. i still gotta take it as sarcasm or trolling but in case it´s not: if i use a controller with 30 fps locked, no frame drops, smoothed out engine with optimized frames such as with motion blur (as seen in the last of us) or other post processing effects, and the game IS NOT a shooter. sure. 30 is ok. we played 30 fps on consoles for decades. we also played shooters on 30 fps. but not on pc. not with the mouse. not on 60hz monitors. you immediately feel the sluggish controls from the direct input and the 30 fps on motion blur hated environments
(who does nto hate chroma sht and overdone blurs!) you will not enjoy a shooter where you need fast reflexes such as stalker anymore on 30 fps. no one does. you have seen the shitstorm about LA NOIRE? played it on console, then on PC? you have the science which is not changeable, but you still need to adapt for each plattform as it´s not 1:1 transitionable. the more reason to look at the fps drops which i get as well. in certain areas the xray engine or soemthing you changed on it or enb or whatsoever (depth of field and AA and such stuff disabled)compared to vanilla, the game suddenly goes from stable locked 60 (no vsync, **** vsync!) of 28fps to around 32fps, 24 when looking through the scope of the svu. it´s ok in most maps but the red forest is especially bad. i guess it´s modern hardware and some changes made on the x ray or the graphichal whatsoever that takes away air on the raw performance obtainable from a xeon e3 1230 v3 and 7870ghz. that´s something i cna put up with. but as i had to feel in rainbow six siege a long time ago, people who never played any shooter on 60 fps with raw mouse input don´t get it. i guess the normal people are already too spoiled these days.

cromm said its extended geometry. i guess you should have added a enable and disable function or gave it as an extra folder to add if possible. or it might simply just also absolute nature doing it´s job. annoying as people with lower rigs, and the stalker community doesn´t have rich rigs as I know, can´t enjoy it as smoothly as they could once back in the day.

Ok but listen ,in the end this is not about what the eye can see. I was just asking HOW I can improve my FPS. I do want a steady 60fps.

Deleting the levels? Isn't that gonna.. Crash the game?

Delete level.details. It's only removes higher grass, not whole new geometry. Go into gamedata/levels and type into search field "level.details". Remove all search results (all level.details files).

Reply Good karma+1 vote

No it won't. You just gonna loose all new geometry and game will revert to old vanilla levels.
IMO you'll loose a lot of atmosphere but that's what would definitely improve FPS.

BTW, how much FPS you've got in vanilla? I'm asking because ppl usually don't get a big FPS drop in AA2 even with all maxed out.

Reply Good karma+1 vote
Veniathan
Veniathan

Not gonna do that, I want the atmosphere. I'll just deal with the drops (sometimes it goes to 30).

I get over 102FPS all max Vanilla. I'm playing Call of Chernobyl now at an average of 94FPS and all max at DX11

Anyway, thanks. I like the mod, I just hope I get to finish the game with it and dont get corrupted saves.

I don't think we can do any better. It's the extended geometry that hits the FPS. Delete at least level.details files so the grass will be as dense as in vanilla.

SOC has poor level design in some places and not properly set HOMs (the invisible walls that prevent obscured geometry from rendering). The garbage for instance has big FPS hit when looking west towards Agroprom. Same with Warehouses looking from the entrance to Red Forest towards the Bar.

You can also install the mod with lower FOV. Bigger FOV means more objects to render, hence FPS hit.
Also lowering resolution may help.

Reply Good karma+1 vote

Veniathan

Yeah lowering resolution without doubt helps, but my screen is 1080p. Any non-native resolution results in massive pixelation.

It's alright, the drops are not too common. It's situational. I just hate the delay that comes with under 60 fps.

My fov is just 75 so it's ok I think

Stunning graphics and game design, the autumn environments look crisp and natural. A fantastic mod for Shoc that succesfully introduces an alternative art direction...

While it's a great idea, there are many many flaws that make it a Misery (AKA unfun mod)for SoC. 1) The Grenade Damage and Range, way too high and ridiculous, IRL I could throw a grenade into a room, and stand to the side of the door, and survive with no injuries, in AA2, I can't be within 50m of it or I die. 2) The lack of visibility, yeah I get it "Muh immersion" but the bullshit that stems from being shot from places you can't see, even if you look directly at them, is ridiculous. The enemies…
