Time to start the wandering, stalker...

Autumn Aurora 2 has been released!

The second version of the Autumn Aurora brings the autumnal atmosphere to the Zone and totally overhauls the graphics, sound and gameplay of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl. The mod is built on the newest Zone Reclamation Project's core, it contains official AtmosFear for ShoC which has never been released before. AtmosFear has been extensively redesigned to match the autumn style.
It also holds an official new Absolute Nature for ShoC (never released as standalone as well) with new tree models from AN3 CoP and some new ones.

It is the perfect opportunity for every S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fan to immerse again into Chernobyl universe in completely different style this time.

The Zone calls again...

Although I have thoroughly enjoyed the last two releases of AA, I find my personal preference is still for 2.04. Having said that, I was wondering if it was possible for me to modify the mod in order to allow for two things: 1) the correct behavior of the loners in the rookie village following the merc attack, and 2) the correct behavior of the skinflint task to clear out the bloodsuckers from the village? Any advice or comments would be much welcome.

Best,
B.

I've already replied in the download thread but my answer got lost somehow :P

Anyway, these fixes are buried somewhere in ZRP that AA2.1 is fully built on. Unfortunately I can't point you to where it is. We simply didn't fix it ourselves just used already fixed ZRP.

Dunno why you dislike 2.1 but in terms of gameplay balance nothing much changed apart of adding blowouts (easy to disable or postpone indefinitely) and some items removed from beginning levels.

Well, take my comment with a grain of salt, please. Just because I prefer 2.04 does not mean I dislike 2.1. There were things I dislike about 2.05, but you guys addressed all of them in it's successor.

If I had to pin down anything specific, I prefer the weather in 2.04, and I also like that it's more drab and almost depressing because of the moody weather and the mottle grey and brown colors.

Now you're making me want to go through 2.1 again on another full playthrough!

BTW, thanks for letting me know that the fixes are part of the ZRP AA is based on. Even if I elect to re-adopt 2.1, I'm still interested in looking through the code for the fixes to my two issues.

Thanks!

Best,
B.

My game runs at 27-32 FPS on maximum settings at 2560x1440 without the ENB, is this due to optimization or is my computer not powerful enough?

I don't even have a monitor with such resolution so I can't check :P
On my 2 x GTX660Ti the game has about 60fps in 1680x1050

I guess the extended geometry of the levels and the fact that xRay is 7 years old engine with poor optimisation may be the factors here. Also increased FOV or increased grass distance have the big impact on the performance.

why did you guys include Velas artifact hunter in the game when you can't use it? the screen doesn't turn on... and now I've sold old scanners thinking this would work, so is there a place to buy scanners anywhere?

SoC engine have no native detector support like CoP. The dectors will never work like there. We did what we could.
Still, Veles is better than the others because it detects all the artifacts and shows their exact position on the map.

Stunning graphics and game design, the autumn environments look crisp and natural. A fantastic mod for Shoc that succesfully introduces an alternative art direction...
