Time to start the wandering, stalker...


Autumn Aurora 2 has been released!



The second version of the Autumn Aurora brings the autumnal atmosphere to the Zone and totally overhauls the graphics, sound and gameplay of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl. The mod is built on the newest Zone Reclamation Project's core, it contains official AtmosFear for ShoC which has never been released before. AtmosFear has been extensively redesigned to match the autumn style.
It also holds an official new Absolute Nature for ShoC (never released as standalone as well) with new tree models from AN3 CoP and some new ones.

It is the perfect opportunity for every S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fan to immerse again into Chernobyl universe in completely different style this time.

The Zone calls again...

Unfortunately there won't be AMK's dynamic messages and looting corpses by NPC's.

There are few reasons. AMK's dynamic messages are need to be cut from AMK and maybe it could be done relatively quickly. Writing new texts, translating, testing everything needs a LOT of work.

Looting corpses; in ZRP there is no proper module responsible for this feature. Cutting it from other mods it's horribly difficult work (at least for us) and we have no guarantee that it won't causing CTD's in the future. I remember situation from last year when we've implemented full Rulix X-Stream Ai Packet with help of great scripters from AMK team - we had random empty logs on the Garbage, Cordon and Dark Valley. We couldn't find the reason of this CTD's and finally it turned out that the fault was on the side of AI and we had to removing whole AI Packet.

Everything needs a lot of work and merging. Additionaly we've almost completed AA2.1 tests and everything it's great beside ONE thing:

You MUST to keep amount of active tasks in your PDA below 5-6. The problem is in limitations of X-Ray. AA2 it's very heavy mod for X-Ray and when you will exceed this amount, your save will be corrupted because engine won't handle everything. Our AA2.1 testers wrote that when they had below 5-6 tasks they had no any CTD through 3/4 of storyline. When they got another tasks their saves was corrupted. X-Ray memory limit it's 1.6gb. AA2 use about 1.4-1.5gb, so it's almost memory's "ceiling".

That's why we are going to prepare "eye-*******" info on main page to warn each new player and...it will be end of our work. We made everything what we could. No more releases, no more add-ons. We've thought that we will rest after few weeks after release day.

Thanks for the response, Vandrere! I'm very impressed by the amount of work you're dedicating to this. Most modders are about shoving as many features in one go, but you, unlike other modders, dedicate yourself to stability. That I admire! Thanks for kind words. We had very lot of work with CrommCruac and just as you wrote - stability of our product it's very important. Now if we know about xRay limitations, we prepared (more precisely, Cromm did that) an additional window option in AA2's installator to make sure that everyone will remember our advices.

We noticed that people don't read what we've wrote in installator so we hope that now problems with corrupted saves/patch incompatibility would be noticeable smaller.

Those screenshots... :-O Wow! The colors look more vibrant than before, I guess that's because my playthrough is stuck in cloudy, foggy and rainy weather. :)
There will always be "one more thing", but it sounds like ShoC and it's X-Ray engine has been taken about as far as it can go. It's going to be VERY hard to top the work you've done with AA2, and will IMO remain as the ultimate overhaul mod. To have the original game in such a polished and great looking/sounding package is amazing. ShoC sure has come a long way since the original release (as well as Complete, which is now totally outdated lol).

There is this mod called MYSTERY. It's basically MISERY (CoP) graphics in CS. No point making another one that looks very similar.

2. Did you tweaked manually something after the installation?
3. Have you changed fsgame.ltx file?

I have patch 1.0006 US,i didn't manually tweak anything after the install, but i only changed fsgame.ltxs'gamedata line to true, and that was it.

Your GPU seems to have problems with the extended mod geometry. It may be too old or to have not sufficient VRAM. Try to reinstall the drivers to the latest ones. If this don't help try to lower the vision distance, texture and object quality in options.
