Alien_Firefox,
first, get a life mate. second I'd like to know if you have ever used a F88 Austyer FOR REAL on a RANGE. If so, then wtf has possed you to compare an very accurate assault rifle to a AK-47. the Aus SASR and 1NZSASGROUP train together TONS. Hell some of there guys do selection over here in Perth a nd ours with there SAS Group. The reason you dont hear about the NZ soldiers is because they are usually on secondment to either the US, Brits or Aust units in these various warzones. Please cheak your info BEFORE you post it would cause a lot less hassle for people in these forums.
BF2 Aus Forces Mod Team - ABSO-FREAKING-LUTLY AWSOME MOD, Keep up the good work.
Firstly, Nice job to the people who made this mod. Seriously, pat on the back. The world often lacks good Aussie based military games, and this one allows to play as Aussie troops. Finally take some of the glory from the Americans.
Secondly, seriously Alien_Firefox... No... Just no... Like pretty much everything you said was wrong. Me, a 17 year old with no military experience can tell you that you are wrong. I am joining the army next year, and trust me, my military knowledge, although limited, obviously outstretches yours. Please mate, form arguments on logical and factual bases. NZ may be smaller, but that doesn't make them any worse of an army. NZ is a small place, and may not have as many people, but they also have less of a coastline to defend. This means they only need a smaller defence force, which means they can afford to give their troops the same quality training as our boys (and girls). The term ANZAC did not stop at Gallipoli man. Seriously, NZ isn't some wasteland, and their soldiers aren't some randoms running around firing their "AK-47s" in the air. The only real difference you could say between the two forces, is the tactics they may use to train with. Now, I'm not some Kiwi sympathiser, these are the facts. NZ army is about the same quality force. They may be WORSE in some areas, but they are BETTER in others. One poster commented on the Trackers, and this is true. Australia is constantly sending troops around the world to train with and give/recieve advice from other armies. I can almost bet NZ would be the same.
And stating that an F88 Carbine is the same as an AK-47... NO. BAD DOG. I don't even know where to start with this one. Where do I start people? The ammunition difference? The Bullpup difference? The age difference? Most CERTAINLY the accuracy difference? You do realise why Bullpups are more accurate, right? Barrell length is not the only contributing factor to the Accuracy. Listen mate, it's called GOOGLE. Use it every once and a while. Maybe even go ALL OUT and look up Wikipedia. I'm pretty sure all the specs of the AK47, F88, and most of the other random things you pulled out of your hat are on there. It also has a list of what the AUSTRALIAN ARMY and the NEW ZEALAND ARMY does use. You will be surprised to see the ABRAMS on that list.
A message to all Kiwis: Not all Australians do not know how to use Google like Alien_Firefox. Although we might have a general sense of competition between our nations (in sports, etc) we do not all think you are hillbillies running around with AK-47s. Some of us who have reached the stage of Wikipedia use could even tell you the Actual amount of troops you have, and the Actual equipment you use. Please, disregard all the previous messages. Alien_Firefox is currently being tracked down to be deported. He will be taken to New Zealand to learn how to base arguments on Facts, and not things he thought he saw on some blog.... some where. And just as a side note, I hope I get to serve along side the New Zealand military when I enlist.
Thanks for reading.
Hope to see you on the Mod.
Again I tip my hat to the creators.
>Hongimaster. (dw. It is not the Maori 'hongi', its a word I made up coincidently the same spelling as the Maori word).
if the mod team could release a proper skin for the abrams m1a1 i could call this mod complete.
just a mini fix would be enough
good job guys
gday all yer think you guys have done a great job the gatt's look good, as a aussie soldier love the mod good to be aussie not US for a change haha well cheers fellas and keep up the good work
@paulswish
new zealand is lucky to have a population of 5 million therefore theres no way new zealand could afford decent weaponary and dont try to compare the nz sasr to the australian sasr they just cant compare.
considering nz sasr are only in very simple simple operations and are rarely in an operation means they cant possibly equal up to the austarlian sasr.
not saying the nz sasr are bad or anything but they are nothing preapred to the australian sasr.
also you said "The New Zealand Special Air Service, and indeed other members of its Army, have a superb reputation for producing some of the best combat Trackers in the world. As a result Kiwi troops often teach these skills to the various US Special Forces units and others around the world, including the British SAS."
well i have spoken to some delta force folks from the us and a few marines and they tell me that they didnt even know nz had a military. so obviously your the one posting incorrect information.
and nz doesnt use the steyr they use the F88 Austeyr wqhich is pretty differant to the steyr aug
the F88 Austeyr takes a 5.56 x 45mm same as the australian steyr Aug but the F88 Austeyr is a carbine therefore has a shorter barrel and is less accurate and also carbine versions are usually cheaper.
basically the F88 Austeyr is a ak-47
i'd love to see the leopard 1 tank in this mod
and a chinook
the chinook would look awesome on the bf2 engine
and also although its well done the m1a1 needs more detail.
it looks like its just the blank unskinned model and just has a bit of colour shoved on the side.
i think it needs to be more better detailed.
o0ther then that this mod is awesome its so good to be able to be running around as my own people then as a bloody yank.
Alien_Firefox, let's get one thing straight mate, you are 100% full of it.
You talked to Delta Force operators ? Hmmmm, sure you did.
On to the important stuff:
The NZ Army actually has just as good equipment as the ADF. Their LAVIII's (very similar to US Army Stryker ICV's) are infact newer then ADF ASLAV's (although ours are consirably upgraded).
....

The NZ Army use a mixture of Austrian and Australian produced Steyrs. The Australian version is produced at Lithgow at the Thales/ADI factory. F88 Austeyr is the Australian designation of the Steyr by the ADF, AUG stands for "Armee-Universal-Gewehr", the Austrian version. There is NO difference between the 2 (perhaps apart from poorer quality builds early in the production of the Australian version). The 2 versions both use a very similar type of ammunition, 5.56x45mm NATO or SS109 in the ADF. SS109 is used because NATO rounds cause stopages/jamming.
The F88 has multiple versions which are designated via an additional letter to the name:
F88: is the standard plain jane version in service with a 508mm barrel.
F88C: is the carbine version with a smaller 407mm barrel, used by armoured crew members, recon scouts and 3RAR.
F88S: has a 1913 Picatinny rail replacing the standard 1.5x scope on the standard F88 allowing various higher powered scopes to be attached like the Elcan Wildcat, ACOG and M68 Aimpoint.
The "F88 is basically an AK47" ? What the hell are you smoking ?
NZSAS are just as professional and highly trained as the Australian SASR. We never hear about the NZSAS being deployed or doing anything because they like to keep OPSEC and PERSEC matters just that...secure, add to teh fact that the NZ Govt doesn't want to upset a decidedly liberal/left public. A lesson the Aus Govt could well stand to learn. Your comments are outrageous and have no bearing in the real world.
The ADF uses an absolute massive amount of US military hardware. Our armoured vehicles like M1A1's, M113's, ASLAVs (Canadian), RAAF Combat Air Group (F/A-18A's and B's and soon the F/A-18F Super Hornet and F-35 Lightning and the good old F111), Infantry/SF weapons (M4A1's, ACOG's, Javelin ATGM, SR-25 sniper rifle, helicopters like the S-70A BlackHawk, CH-47 Chinook, Iroquois, Kiowa, S-70B-2 Seahawk, the Air Warfare Destroyer has a good chance of being a smaller version of the Arleigh Burke DDG, a plethora of missiles, bombs and plenty other weapon systems I could'nt be bothered typing out, communications equipment, and other technologies. We use probably 70-80% of American made equipment in the ADF.
Your other ridiculous comments I'll leave be. You need to do some serious research or grow up and join up and get a dose of reality buddy, because you need it.
Where i find the mod?
